No problem for me, I don’t drive and even if I do volunteer to drive none is brave enough to ride in that car. Just have to tumpang james or RainBow then. Will even contribute a bottle of the good stuff just to make things interesting.

EK: Sounds good, but are u sure 1 bottle is enough? But on the bright side, Bukit Kayu Hitam or Langkawi is actually a stone throw away from Alor Star.

Okay can be confirmed on, Not really particular if we have 4 or 100 pax lol, Suitable Dates? If at my place then I’m around most times so better let u guys decide the date.

ONE bottle no enough, no problem, I shall bring along that unfinished bottle of Absolute from Chris. Bet that, once we have that bottle going around, everybody will say they HAD enough. No further problems.

Kak kak kak, apala lu, always got kedekuk solutions one.

So when guys?

Master lapala,

any chance of us from Johor Bahru joining ur lure making session ?

rgds

Joon

Sure no problem rainbow7j, When a date is set and u guys are willing to travel to Alor Star, alls welcome

peregrine,
You can get the Jelutong wood in Penang book shops. Got mine through Baba at Carnavon street. They come in various thickness and sizes. Choose wisely.

RR,

Baba got you the wood from Carnavon Street?, You know what that street is called by the locals? well simply translated, it’s popularly known as “coffin” street, given the numerous undertakers and chinese prayer suppliers there. Sure your wood is not part of the wood-chip/leftover from the manufacture of those expensive boxes, ah.

Lapala,

kedekut, that is something natural in me. also thinking of your liver, too much of a good thing may not be all too healthy to you and definately on my well kept stock.

Uuuu??? then this thread shouldn’t be lure making get together lorr… it shud be coffin making get together!!! hahahahah

The official local name for Carnavon Street is “Lam Chan Ngah” meaning “Swampy Area” [:D], heard that it was actually estaury with mangroove decades ago. “Kua Char Kay” (coffin street) is the nick name, and is only used by ppl from outside the island or newer generation.

some other interesting names of the streets around that area:
“Kiam Hoo Tia” = Salted Fish Arena
“Tai Goo Ao” = Behind the bull slaughter place
“Ia kar” = (Under the) Coconut trees leg
“Pak Tit Kay” = Blacksmith St
“Pak Cheok Kay” = Stone carving st
“Ian Tang Lor” = chimney rd
“Tor Kor Kay” = Main distributors st
“Siah Boay” = End of the community (is a wet market, but now no more)
etc etc…
