Yes…Doc was a very happy man indeed. He’s making up for lost time since this is the 6th trip of his and the first time he’s caught bones on fly.

Aiyah…told you to come with us, didn’t I? [:D]

Mine were caught on No. 2 Olive/White Clouser Minnow. Don’t know about Doc’s. Mine was ONLY a 3.5 pounder and it gave a DAMN good account of itself on 7wt before coming in.

Tony…I can’t imagine the “syiokness” factor if we hook the 6 pounders and above. Anyway, the feeling of knowing that you’re hooked up to a bonefish cannot be put into words…no matter the size!!!

Ask Doc or Irhamy!!!

Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!!!</font id=“teal”> [:(]

Anyway… CONGRATZ</font id=“size4”></font id=“red”>! [;)]

Andrew… pinjam your photos for the BM Section report.
Cheers, bro… [;)]

Chris, you are most welcome to join us on our next trip. In fact, there was a Russian guy who joined us on this one.

And I dare say, he had a BLAST fishing with us…though he didn’t catch too many fish. Well…since it’s his first time fly fishing in the salt, it’s a learning process for him.

haha funny u asked that…the first day he decided he didn’t need any sunblock…said he doesn’t burn easily. At the end of the day, we had a two toned colour Russian. [:D] Good thing I had some after sun lotion for him to apply.

The UV over there is pretty strong!

Good Day,

Yep, all the more reason to wear long sleeve shirt, gloves, big hat… sometimes even long pants to protect calves… Ouch…

Christopher

Good Day,

Just wondering, what were the primary flies you guys were using? Charlies?

Hi Chris.

The flies we used the most were Clouser Minnows in various sizes. The bonefish also took Clouser Minnows tied on No. 2 hook.

Cruising triggerfish took Clouser Minnows but for a tailing triggerfish, a Merkin’s Crab worked wonders…provided you managed to get near enough to put an accurate cast in. [:D]

Other flies used were Deceiver’s and of course, Crazy Charlies were popular as well.

We also caught bonefish on a pink version of this fly…

Chris, any idea what’s the name of this fly?

Tks.

Good Day,

There are a series of saltwater flies that, well, are known a shrimp. I know, kind of simple. What they all have in common are the use of two hackle tips. The bodies are usually dubbed or wrapped chenille. Some have bead chain eyes, some don’t. And still others also employ a little flashabou or hair between the hackles. I will have to do more research to see if the above photo has a specific name, but it might not… as it is part of a generic fly type.

I do know that it’s supposed to mimic a shrimp but was kind of hoping that it had a specific name to it.

Thanks anyway.

Good Day,

Hey TangyP! Well I have poured over several pattern books and nothing specific in terms of name. Just shrimp this or that… well it was worth a try… hehe.

Hi Chris…thanks for checking anyway. Guess the name’s not that important…most important is that it catches them bones eh? [:)]
