Hi ppl. just wanna ask if any of u have seen some units of daiwa alphas 103L with a tiny hole in the sideplate, just above the magnetic brake dial.
i’ve seen the little hole (which i’m assuming is a manufacturing defect) on a few units in different tackle shops, not just one. the same hole cannot be found on the right hand models. it is also not mentioned in the manual to serve any function.
i dun think it affects the performance though. doesn’t look like the hole goes right through the sideplate into the interior, but it’s quite visible.
what do u guys know about this?
Wei…u still eyeing the alphas ka?</font id=“size2”></font id=“purple”>

haha. no la. just curious. even if i got the money (which i don’t right now), i think i got other things on my mind to spend on.
just wanna ask la.
hmmm… actually, if it is indeed a defect, maybe can push the shopkeeper to give a little more discount. haha.
Bro Mya, what’s d asking price? before n after d discount…haha
all left handed Alphas; purple, type F & R-edition (ITO AI not sure) have the same ‘hole’.
the right handed ones do not have this ‘hole’.
function? most probably to indicate position of Magforce V setting on the external dial.

WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT
oh. hmmm… thanks for pointing out that the same can be found on the type F n R models too.
to indicate position of the Magforce setting? perhaps.
but why on the left hand models only n not the right hand models too? maybe i dun know enough… but is that a valid question?
y not email daiwa and ask? i’m also interested to know! hahahaha… surprising how something this small actually went thru ur head to this extent!

at first, i just found it odd that more than one unit had this hole (what seemed to me like a ‘functionless’ defect). now that u’ve pointed out that even the other editions like type f & r also have it on the left hand models, it’s even more intriguing. haha.
i’ll see what else i can find out la. meanwhile, anybody else can think of any reason for the holes being on the left hand models, can still provide some insights here…
thanks!

no la. i didn’t ask for discount or anything. dun have the money for it now also la. just curious about the tiny hole above the dial.
i think i saw it in a few shops for slightly above RM900.
bro FT, all the alphas models, even the type F & R dun have clicking on their drag stars, right?
yup. no need clicking drag. more unnecessary parts=more weight.
the non-clicking drag star on the alphas is constant enough not to slip during prolonged fights and provide consistent drag presure.
