i currently build my rods with micro guides. 1st hand information is, its not for everyone. advantage wise more than disadvantages. a real pain in the butt for the rodbuilder to align so many small guides!
now i will not build ‘regular’ guide rods whenever possible.
and to clear one misconception that its meant for lighter lines and lures, well, i find it otherwise.
one observation i made: there IS increased resistance overall, so light lures MAY not have the inertia to pull line off the rod. on heavier lures like cranks, the line shoots off ACCURATELY with IMPROVED distance, sort of like how a longer gun barrel with rifling improves distance and accuracy.
good luck experimenting…
and oh, for my 10-guide rods, i use these sizes and configuration: (stripper)8-6-5-5-4-4-4-4-4-4(tiptop), u can use it as a guide [:D]
