We at MSC are already talking about organising the above commpetition which has been a ritual for us and also our Singapore brothers every year.
So far we have not missed any year since it was first organised, be it by us or PeMM and of course, we don’t want to miss organising it this 2009.
Most likely it will be sometime the end of the year and this early notice would prompt keen hard core tournament casters to prepare themselves.
We were also thinking of having the competition in Malacca this time around for a change. We’ve done it in Kuantan before (thanks to Oaakin)and I’m sure we can also do it successfully in Malacca.
More so, there are many surfcaster in Malacca ready to give us some challenge!
The thing is… what do you guys think of this proposal of having it in Malacca??? I think it would be a good exposure for the sport!
Think you should post this too in KPN, as i think most new comer will be from there, as said mebbe there will be novice category (Malaysian only) and im hoping those Malacca surfcaster will have their chance of lifetime.
Who want to cast with 175gm cat ?

Refer to the subject of having the tournament, I don’t have any objection coz I now " ACARAW" </font id=“red”> </font id=“size3”> kaki, But issue like location “where about”, whether a permit is require or not and the area of the propose court and whether it a line to the wind direction must be consider, coz we here don’t really familiar with Melaka.
As for this 2009 tournament I suggest we cast the 100g & 125g only la. Most of us no more young like we use to be, more over it has been 2 years we didn’t cast the 100g in tourney 2007 & 2008, we have the 125/150g cat.
Like Pantai Acheh, we all have expeience it and what need to refine is the alignment of the center line inline to North West. During last tournet the casting direction was to the East.
Most of the Malaysian caster only are no more young, but not Singaporean which many from them is below 40. How if this year 100gm and 150gm, forget about 125gm just for one day (seem fair for youngest and oldest). You know la im weak at 100gm and 125gm. How, how ?
BTW what is ACARAW ?

Hi all young and old casters alike,
I would favour the 100g coz its light and very unlikely to cause serious injury to the caster.
As for 125g, I would say that it’s a favourable medium size all round weight and futhermore I have not heard any complains/grievences about it. On the other hand during the previous tourny when we were discussing the sinker size for the next saujana putra tourny. The mere mention of 150g was loudly opposed by ngah kamal. Can you imagine kamal the “hard core supercaster”, “old timer budak lama” frightened by an extra 25g? but that is the fact guys, 150g is too heavy for most of us(excluding edi of course)
Having said all of the above please don’t be mistaken that I will shy away from the 150g if its included because currently at my level participation is more important than distance. Gaining friends and extending a meter of friendliness is more valuable to me.
Let’s just chuck a few leads and have a good time once a year shall we.
"In my opinion of opinion ", should have a bit heavier weight category, why ? in the future when there is new born distance caster or fishing caster (hopefully they are youngters) they wont set in their mind that 150gm or 200gm is a problem or a nightmare for them. Same thing hapenned to me, been told before that extra 25gm will damage your body, hmmm i think this needed to be deleted.Diffrent weight need a diffrent timing, and that how sport is, im not forcing anything here but been thinking if one day someone from here is a world record holder just in 100gm or 125gm only or some one dont want to cast here because we’re on the light category or suppose to back off when this extra 25gm is added (as example). Whatever i know more weight wont let my distance go far but less weight also didnt make my distance far (crack off ada la).The only gaining far i think is what in my mind.

Honestly , I have no objection on the heavier leads ( 150grm n 175grm ) and in my humble opinion , its about time we look into this , for the spirit of Sport Casting , lets just give it a shot this time , post mortem it again after the Tourny and review it whether to continue for the next Tourny or not , perhaps 3 cast for the 150 or 175 grm , 3 cast for the 100grm , 4 cast for the 125grm or vice versa thus still making it total of 10 cast too , this is just a suggestion , it can be any ways , most important is at the end of the day if the rest of the world boleh , Malaysia and Singapore also boleh !!! [:)]
100gm - aiyaaa, reel so fast & furious.
125gm - ok go for it, easilyyy .
150gm - heavier than heaven, less calcium.
175gm - tomorrow die or not die.
i just remember Encik Rahim , NK did said a years before " did the guys have BALLS ". I wonder where his balls roll to now.Yeap easy for him to said, " if you’re good, you can cut off the resistence on 100gm weight for 200m too, which 150gm is heavier then its sure have extra weight for it to force further ".

As for me, I am always the light weight caster thus I’d prefer the 100g and 125g categories. But I still feel that the 125g should always be our mandatory weight category in all our events.
Anyway, the decision on this will be made soon when I call in the Organising Commitee members to delibberate on the tournament details.
I hope whatever the decision is, we should always respect the decision of the majority members and move on to ensure the tournament proceeds as scheduled.
Without teamwork…we will all loose, be it light weight or heavy weight.
Leadhunter,
I feel you man, I know where you’re coming from but just like aznaff said we should always consider others as well. Anyway what is the worlds record in relation to leads? Maybe we can make the top 3 of 100g and 125g compete with each other on the 175g. Kind of like an invitational/exhibition competition.
Didnt i consider as a members and consider as others ! or is it because im not on the majoriti side, so cant voice out, i know at last it will not be only my decision and dont have to be my decision.
Been thinking one day if there’s world record holder from here but only in 100gm/125gm but afraid of 150gm or heavier, and been thinking now tourny is handle and decided 100% by MSC , how if one day there’s a body that handle this tourny etc goverment or PeMM they only open for 150gm and heavier lead category, did you want to participate or who will participate or why we have to participate.I know this is nonsense, but still can happen what.
What ever discussing is discussing.at the end there’s only one mission for everyone which i taken from what Allahyarham Syed said (Al Fatihah for him), " i come, i cast and i whack ".which i think whack means anything can happen.

With reference to the propose event of 100gm, in fist place we should have any comment on this issue.
If we refer back to the previous tourney since 2003 till 2008, category was never been question and has mentioned that for the past two years we have 125 & 150g, so why not this 2009 we cast 100g/4oz n 125g. Agreed with Aji Aznaff that 125g is our nominal weight and should included in our annual tourney.
Personally for me 150g is not a problem for me always got number, because we don’t have the time to made into 3 cat in our tourney thus have to drop 1 cat.
As I can remember that I always crack Off casting the 100/4oz compared with 125 or 150g. To me even though 100g or 4oz sinker is consider in Light weight category but it is not easy to cast, high skill in reel tuning and main magnet is required. This will make things more interesting from my point of view.
Yeap we don’t have the luxury of time & big sponsors. Otherwise we can have 3 or 4 categories over 2 days of tourny, marvellous isn’t…? I really wish one fine day we can make it happen, the malaysian distance casting tourny using UKSF weight format, fantastic…!!!
