Well… the situtaion in bkk is bascially the same.
The red shirt protesters are still occuplying the central shopping malls and the soliders and polices are monitoring them.
If your sister is thinking of coming to bkk , if possible ask her to avoid booking the hotels at those affected areas.
The following hotels will be good as it is very near the airport and outside bkk city. It make travelling between fishings and shopping easy.

My brother and his family is residing in Bangkok for the past 10+ years. They told us that the fight involves between the different factions only and wont affect the ordinary people. They still go out eat and shopping and live as usual. Just dont go to the affected area. Those “army” wont harm ordinary people. This is not the first time demonstration happen in Bangkok and they are used to it already. The only time they were affected was when Bangkok airport was closed last time. Things look ugly from outside, but he contact us frequently to tell us not to worry. He even ask me to visit bangkok since the tourist is a lot lesser than usual haha.

Yes !!! Not to mention the big discount those thai airlines and hotels are giving out now to attract the tourists due to current situation.

My UK angler has to hand the rod to me at the last minute to allow me help him land the carp for him.

John,when she calls you, you suggest you bring her to ‘It Monster Lake’ to try out the arapaima and other species.
She has been to BSR many times and she wants to try other venue. She has two new TS RODS, ONE 7 FOOTER AND ONE 5 FOOTER, set up these two new rods for her, and don’t forget to take plenty of action pictures and videos for me, ok??
