My two Pari

Caught this two pari recently.

6.5kg White spotted ray caught on 28-05-2008 with a small cuttle fish as bait.

8.5kg White spotted ray caught on 22-06-2008 with a small fresh squid as bait.

Long time no hear, good to see you are still catching fish.

Nice rays man…were you using light tackles? I normally see pictures of you mainly using heavy tackles lah.

Haha…me fish most of the weekend. I used a Penn powergraph surf 12ft rod pair with a Penn 500L Jigmaster reel. Light tackles very hard to land ray from the jetty as the water is deep. Its better to be save than sorry as U don’t always get to hookup big one. If the catch was fail because of the wrong tackles used, than it is very sad.

How you bring it up~??? You fight the ray to the land or you use gaff~???[:D]

Haha…gaff…it is a must thing when U fish at the jetty. Now I carried three gaff with me. Two small one n a big one. Since after the lost of the 50 over kg ray last year because of not enough gaff to pull it up, I am now fully prepared. Last saturday night before I hookup the 8.5kg ray, another rod with a reel loaded with 250 meter of 30lbs line was almost strip empty spool. So U can see U never know how big the fish is coming to take your bait. Its better to well prepare.

Wow… we can catch this size from shore? Amazing…
