currently im using rod 13’ banax beach master 390 and using banax sx5000 reel. i intend to change reel to more powerful model. kindly do any expert suggest me good one. my budget is below Rm250 to any kind of model.
Your current spinning reel is actually quite durable and powerful, just that the spool is rather small and deep which could somewhat hamper your casting distance.
However, if you are looking for a more suitable reel specificaly for surf fishing…just look for reels which have large, shallow and long spools and such models are available in tica and okuma brands which could easily match your budget.
I normally use multiplier reels for surf fishing, but I do still have a few spinning reels left for my coolection namely the Daiwa Emblem series.
Need some help here, i’m new in this surfcasting area and want to try it.. I already got a Daiwa Emcast 5500.. Can anyone suggest a rod to match with this reel.. Budget RM200.. And have anyone tried using Surecatch 12ft surf casting rod, is not so expensive, price below RM100.. I thought of buying it, but does it match with my reel and is it easy to handle it for a beginner like me..
You have quite a decent reel, but of course not entirely ideal for surfcasting… but it will do the job.
A Surecatch 12 footer for less than RM100! not familiar with this one, if you are just trying out the sport…I would say a 12 foot rod is good. It is much easier to cast and manage. Don’t worry too much about tackles yet, just go to the beach and start fishing as what you have now is enough for a beginner.
Only when you are hooked, then you may want to acquire more serious tackles, maybe use multipliers etc.
Right now i am using Surecatch Prokat 13f. Performent are good and the rod are thought compare to 12f or 14f. Like
Bro Aznaff said it just enought for a beginner like you and me.
Maybe i will buy myself a 12ft or 14ft rod one of these days and try surfcasting.. I got a multiplier, but if i’m using a multiplier i have to modified it a bit or maybe a lot.. I dont know how to modified a multiplier that is why i’m using a spinner..
Anyway thanks again to bro aznaff & bro niezarm for helping..
