BSR Day 2: Light Line Lunacy!
Now that the biggies had been caught on Day 1,
Day 2’s challenge was to use light line: 12-lb, 10-lb and 6-lb to land at least a fish.
The best spot to fish from in BSR is the ‘bungalow’ at the left end…

First off the block was yours truly, with advice from the master.

Lunch break, ordered from the BSR restaurant. But be forewarned, you must order early. It takes ONE hour for your food to be delivered!

There were many fishes caught, but none were photo-worthy.
Everyone had a go and managed to land a fish on light line.
Light gear was Custom Rod PE1-3 paired with Abu Cardinal 804 (12lb braid), bottom fishing rig. I was handed the rod with something big at the end of the line.

Half way thru the fight, the reel BROKE!!! What the @#$%&*%$#@!!!

Metal fatigue failure. Must have developed a hair-line crack from the inside.
(I wonder if we can claim for such manufacturing defect, hmm…)
What to do? Splice line from another reel and continue to fight!

BSR’s fishing guide doing and expert job of joining the line. The reel is now the Penn Sargus (10lb-braid).
The fight is on again.

About ONE hour into the battle, needed to call for reinforcement, the fish has swam almost to the other bank!

VIP fighting fish from a sampan.

Being dragged by the fish all over BSR!

John laughing at me being ‘tortured’ by the fish.

After a battle of TWO hours, standing on a platform, then standing on a sampan, then back to another platform, the fish was landed.

What a beautiful ending to a teriffic day.
(Hmm…, need another round of massage)
