Jst wondering if there’s some good, affordable rods recommendation for surfcasting? Something around 20lb and wont break the bank?

Hi Saltigagt,

Where do you live? …if it’s in Klang Valley, my favourite tackle shop would naturally be Kepong Tackle.

There are a wide range of surf rods there, from the cheaper to slightly more expensive ones!

Check it out then…but most are for spinning reels set-up.

got myself a 13’ rod already. problem is, dun think the tackle shops in kota kinabalu keeps surfcasting accessories. i manage to get the sinkers, however, dun have the breakaway clip, so cant cast too hard w/o the bait flying off. any recommendations where i can get it?

Make some! Get either a thick paper clip or some stainless steel wire. You should be able to get the small rubber tubing from the tackle shop. Cut the paper clip so you have a U shape with one side about 20mm long and the other around 5 or 6mm. Cut several so you have spares. Thread the tubing onto the line, push the long side of the wire into the tubing and you have your clip.
