Sensitivity is the major factor to avoid or reduce snagging. </font id=“green”>
Line - Braided line are more sensitive than monofilament, thus you will avoid striking when you hit a snag or stop your retrieve to allow your lure to float (for floating lures) and lift your rod higher to avoid the snag</font id=“red”>Rod - high modulus and graphite content rods are more sensitive. Baitcasting rods are also more sensitive than spinning rods. So that will put you an edge to reduce the percentage of snagging.
hope this small piece of info helps</font id=“green”>
I dont know if FAT RAP is a floating lure. But my FATRAP sinks. Even on its own it sinks.
Please advise me on your “pause technique” when my FATRAP hits a snag. Thank you.
Sorry guys for the long delay in reply. I was away for work.
Fat Rap are floating lures and they suppose to float unless very thick hooks are changed but if out of the box, it should float. Bro Piscator, appreciate if there is a problem with that particular lure, PM me and I will see what we can do for you. Maybe will exchange for you subjected to available stock.
Bro ekzos, strange that it is circling. I used to have one that is circling but realised that after hitting a few fishes and also hitting the rocks a few times, it went out of tune. I manage to tune it back. Please try to tune it by adjusting the tow point slightly and see if it works.[:D]

The “pause technique” is just a simple technique that when you hit a snag, instead of striking it hard, stop the retrieve and pause for a few second. Those floating lures will float and at times it will be free itself out of the snag and then, you start to retrieve again.

Bro Fred,
Glad to know you’re back
Lol about this technique… Due to the extreme fear of losing another Rapala. I resort to this pause technique for a few days now… While it help get back the lure pretty well there’re other times it dont as well… And in effect i miss pretty much fish with it hahaha, becos i didnt strike to get the hook penetrate in to secure the fish. So just get some tooth mark as souvenier[:)]
Anyway, just glad i didnt lose any Rapala… phewww…
Novice angler here, any constructive advices greatly appreciated. Thank you
Very kind of you to offer help. May I have your email address or hand phone number so that I can contact you?
Or instead of that you may want to contact me by my email address: Zenangler@gmail.com.
Much grateful if you can look into this little problem. I shall be away again for a week from the 15th November. As I am still waiting for your man to call, I hope he does not do it during my absence. Thanks.
on a recent trip, i also noticed some of my fat raps are sinking. they are new & unused out of the box. but that didn’t stop me from using the lures or stop the fishes from taking it. action was ok, castability ok, just that it sinks. fred, apamacam? hehehehe
Did you change the hooks or use a heavy snap? I am getting some “sinking ones” that are being returned and will test them and update you guys. Sorry about it.

nope…new & out of box. i bought quite a few during the launch, and only managed to use them recently. i’m ok with that, just wanna notify that there are sinking ones around, maybe the sealing of the balsa wasnt done well.
