Let’s discuss and exchange view regarding paint job.

I wonder if we can mix 2 colours from spray can?? I encounter this problem last week when i wanted to paint my work purple colour. but I don’t have any purple in my collection, and I couldn’t think of a way to mix the blue with the red colour.

ended up I was using poster colour [:p], and efftect is quite OK if only it’s a thin layer. Too tick, hard to dry and tend to be easily peeled off.

Apply a layer of clear coat on top of the poster colour… the sprayed layer seemed to “eat” into the poster colour… have to wait more than 5 hrs before it totally dried up…

after epoxy, finally everything seems fine. but I don’t know if the colour will faded

i have mixed 2 or more colors from a spray can before:

white, followed by yellow, then floro-orange. this brings out the glowing effect. remember to spray very lightly, and keep a distance when spraying

to make things easier, go buy Anchor brand sprays. the go for abt rm5 or less per pop. got lotsa variety to choose from!

poster colornever used before, bcoz i don think water based & lacquer based paint will mix, so i avoid them!

ya, they don’t really mix well… learned it the hardway [:D]

Anchor brand selling at RM5 (normal paint), the matellic / candy I got mine at RM7, the florocent one RM11. Found a shop selling full range of this brand, can order if no stock [:)]

yeapwl,

i stared off using poster color but hv since change to spray paint
poster color seems to hv dull finish n yes, its difficult to dry if its too thick
it cracks easily under diff. temperature too
furthermore, its not easy to apply poster color over larquer base paint, let alone the bonding n fading problem
at times the poster color tend to smudge when applying clear coat

u can get a different shade of color n effect by doing what FT mentioned above but dont think u can mix 2 or more color like blue n red to get purple

To a certain limit u can “mix” the spray paint colors but u have to spray like superman. Fisrt one color then another b4 the 1st layer dries. Alternatively, get some Candy (ie translucent) color. Usually u see the name as Candy Blue, Candy Yellow etc. these type of color can produce a diffcolor when u spray it on top of each other. Happy experimenting. Search the web for color wheel, u’ll see what color + what makes what LOL.

i was introduce to Candytone spray paint by sifu Lapala, like most other things :wink:
u will love it
good finish when u paint a coat of basic color then spray candytone over it
even better when u spray candytone on foil finish
i’ve since stock up candytone of yellow, blue, red, brown n green
will go get the voilet n purple soon to complete my collection hehehe

just got myself candy green & candy purple yesterday, haven’t try them yet.

howabout the paint for furniture / wall? any comments on this?
