Could anyone be kind enough to show what a pellet fly looks like and how it is made? Same with bread fly. I have tried to look on the net but nothing available. Seems like a lot of fish are caught using these flies and would like to try it out.
Hi Ubi Wan bro, im still a total newbiee in the fly fishing scene. But from what i know, those pellet flies are made of deer hair to look like a floating fish food pellet. I tried improvising by carving out a small ball the size of a fish food pellet out of cork. It does work but i think not as effective as the pro tied pellet flies.
Heres a pic of that ugly cork pellet fly! [:I]
Earth is NOT inherited from our ancestors BUT borrowed from our children!
Thanks for the reply bro..rThe main thing is you caught a fish thats what counts. Saw an actual pellet fly last week belonging to a friend from Bagan Lalang. He also mentioned it was made from deer hair. Wondering if anyone can explain how to make it as Im also new in this fly world.
In these links, focus on the Bread Fly that uses deerhair material. I think that’s the best design. More buoyancy & consistency. And this same method you can apply to make Pellet Fly by using a natural color deerhair & smaller black hooks (#16-12).
Hope this helps.
Have fun tying… [;)]
P/S: By the way Evan, nice meeting you last Sunday at FV… [;)]

Very impressive..noticed two different types of bread flies there. Can explain the difference between the two? One looks like made from deer hair what is the other one made from? Also notice some pom pom type pellets which i managed to get from Nick last week.
Actually I used 2 types of tying material.. Deer hair and bucktail.
U can see 2 different colours coz I used white and the other one is natural colour.
There are 2 white bread fly made of bucktail. It sank too fast, I have to add a pinch of white deer hair to make it afloat longer.
Yup, that’s the pom pom I got from Tackle box. I bought the whole pack and DIY. [;)]
If you noticed, there are 2 fluffy bread fly which made from cigaretta filter.. [:D]
It’s always nice to experiment new things which I read from the MFN forum.. [:)]

For the bread & pellet fly to be effective, we have to bait the fish by throwing bread and pellets into the pond.. [;)]
So, how was your catch using bread & pellet fly?? [:)]
