Anyone has any interesting experiences fishing in Port Dickson to share? Especially Legend Water Chalets… =)

You can try the canal near the Marina Resort and Admiral Cove. I caught a kilo size grouper using lure along the canal. See the photo :

Good luck

I like fishing at PD, always have good catch, usually I fish at beach after telok kemang, before reach tanjung tuan, lots of karang there, used to catch pari, small bayan, ebek, kerapu
I fished at Legend water chalets before, got some smallies, but i also so a mighty splash of water out in the open sea, which i believe was a biggie walloping some fish. too bad i was on 6lb line.
Last time i was fishing for bulus in PD wading and a big yellow tail barracuda whacked some baitfish just meters from me, the tail could be seen sticking up in the air. Too bad my gear was a 4 lb mono on 12lb rod meant for bulus.
Snook, grouper at PD marina cove caught daytime or nite? that cove always look promising…
Daytime around 3.00 pm. Looks can be deceiving my friend, lots of time i went to beautiful spots that looked promising but came back with nothing. Sometimes it is just pure luck but the more you cast the more your luck increases.

yah yah u r correct snook. Normally go find bulus in Pd, especially the avillion side of the beach. but the legend water chalets are really far out if standing at the farthest point…that’s where I saw the splash. but no way to cast out that far, and if kena oso impossible to land it.
Hmmm,
Didnt know there are milkfish in PD area. How to fish them? Is it like fishing for mullets?
how do you get into those areas?
Which area? You mean the canal?

I usually avoid goin to PD on CNY week as the road along the beachfront will be jam packed with cars, it is ridiculous!!
Thanks for sharing all!
Yes, I’ve fished couple of times at the Legend, esp moonless nights, my 3 crab cages got me a grand total of average 50-60 crabs in one night (not joking)… that place is DAMN full of crabs… lolz..
Also, using live prawns, got myself some nice tetuka (mini-rays), one stray kerapu (approx. 500g), gelama and bulan.
My live fish all got bitten into half (even my Berkely Gulp) had a clean bite right through- confirmed kacang/barras…
Fantastic place to fish…
Also tried the canal, kena grouper on kembong fillet… Try the breakwater facing the open sea (where the concrete warning light pole is), loads of mini-grouper, use a pole with a large hook and sotong, just like how those guys in Penang use… guaranteed to satisfy you if the fishies aren’t biting! My friend and I got a record of 20 in just a few hours!
Oh yes, one recent experience - (1 month ago) I was fishing near Pulau Burong, the place where they are rebuilding the long bridge to the island, and like Snook, I was going for bulus. I got lazy and left my 50lb. line on to fish the whiting. After several nice sized ones were landed, this HUGE barra whacked a big whiting that I was in the midst of reeling in and just pulled my line out even with drag set to tight!
Line eventually snapped and I regretted not using my wire leaders…
One thing for sure- PD is full of barras!
Anyone going to PD pop me an email at limsk25@gmail.com! Will be delighted to tag along if I have the time! =)
Ah! Havent tried my luck with the milkfish! Will try do do a trip next week to go after them =P
Oh yes, a great boatman would be Abg. Nuai (from Tlk Kemang Fishermen’s Jetty) Really rajin change spot if the fishies aren’t biting plus knowledgeable with PD area (he’s got 200+ locations in his GPS)!
His number is: 014-2646287. He’ll gladly take you out for squid and even to the Indo-Malaysian border if you can tahan the sea… Great guy!
He’s been featured in this site by some of his customers too…

dude how did you set up the traps? Using floats in deep water and leave for one night or what? Last time i tried to catch blue crabs aka ketam bunga at night by using torchlight wading in the water but didnt find any.

you can go to the canal via a slip road on the side of marina apartments. Not sure about the Legend chalets though cos i never been there.
