Chuanjiek,
There are no Hotels but only chalet accommodations. Most chalets sleeps 4 persons with double deck beds. Air-condition is optional, some rooms are fitted with a window unit. You pay a little more if you use it. Generally, the chalets are clean and comes with attached bathroom. You can include food into your package, however we choose to bring our own but pay them to cook. Electricity is from a Gen-set, so it is only available from 6pm to 7am. We were told by the operator that they can use maxis (012) on Pulau Dayang. Unfortunately none of us are Maxis uses.
As for lunch, the chalet operator will prepare lunch packs to take on board.
My prefered time to go is March, just after the Monsoon and Mid October, just before the Monsoon.
JerryGK,
Pulau Aur is such a facinating fishing spot that you can’t actually tell what to expect. I bring along 4 different type of setup. The large school of large Dorados we encountered was quite a surprise, we have not seen these for a long time. Other times, we encounter Ebeks in large numbers, Cermins, snappers, groupers and tenggiris. This time we were lucky to meet sharks and dorodos in this numbers. Usually , this time of the year are productive especially with Marlins.
Our regular boatman has since sold his boat 2 years ago. This Boatman is quite well known in Aur/Dayang. He service is quite sought out by Singaporeans. Getting his service on weekdays is easier.
We always go Pulau Aur on weekdays to avoid the crowd, Divers and the occational anglers. Lannun is correct that it must be at least 3 nights to enjoy there. Drifting is a must do thing where you can catch many groupers and other species with simple ‘apollo’ jigs.
We were happy that KK was able to join us and have put pictures in this forum for us to enjoy, as we have enjoy ourselves crazy on that trip. FYI, KK was the champion of the trip, he even releases all dorados that are less than 2 kg, sharks as well.
KK, what ever that very large shadow was, it would have been one hell of a fight!!!
