Pulau Indah (Star Cruise Terminal)

My first fishing report for 2007. [:D]

Unfortunately .. it is disappointment rather than joy.

Date: 07 January 2007
Time: 8am ~ 11.30am
Fishing Rod: 2
Fish Caught: 0
Fish Escape: 1
Bait Used: Selar & Kembong
Location: Near the water entrance

Remarks: Caught 1 Siakap within 15 minutes but unfortunately was let loose when nearing shore due to line broken. For the next few hours, we just sat without any respond. But there were around 10 ~ 12 other anglers and in between they caught siakap, mini trevally, and unidentified fish.

I am still disappointed because after nearly 20 visits here to this pond, I haven’t caught anything at all.

But that’s fishing I guess .. [B)]

Never give up and you will get the catch of your LIFE!![:)]

Take joe’s advise on this. It’s only over when you say so.

Thanks guys .. I appreciate and share your views.

Anyway .. appreciate if any of our bros could give me some thoughts on how to catch a fish in Pulau Indah. [;)]

I don’t know what is wrong .. could be my style of fishing. Normally I would use fish as bait, cast it out as far as I could, and wait.

Occasionally I would chage to casting, but I prefer to sit and wait. [:p]

I will let Kurauking or Krazie Fishie answer you on Klang fishing. They should be back in the office tomorrow.

Fishing for siakap you’ll need a trace of thick or least an abrasion resistant leader coz it is known by anglers that siakap is capable to cut line using their sharp gill cap.

Point taken bro joe67. [V]

dreamworks bro…
which pond u talking about…??? Is it the giagantic paypond…
i havent been there for quite sometime…
some say fishing behind the office is quite good… you should try out that location sometime…

Yeap the big gigantic pond near the Star Cruise Terminal.

I usually fish around the water inlet / outlet area. Never tried behind the office as suggested but I will give it a shot. [;)]

Well dreamworks.

don’t ever give up. So long after all this while i’ve gone home empty handed once only. Thank God for that. I’ve landed siakaps, Ang chors and even a barracuda there before and not to mention some talapia’s. Well the pond really depends on the water level and also the tide. VEry important is the tide. I’m sorry that i won’t be able to tell you the tide cause i just follow whenever my friend goes in there. Sometimes he gets about 5 siakaps.. sometiems even 0 and the past 5 trips he got all 0.. chair rental for 5 times x 3 hours per session… RM 150 bucks gone.. but he never gave up..

After the 6th time he went in.. He caught a nice 1.5kg siakap..
Well you could try right behind the counter and you will see a pole there.. try casting a live bait there… but be cautious in using prawn in the afternoon as small fishes will nibble all your prawn legs and then head and left the tail for you.

try buying or catching belanak there if you can.. proven to be the best bait cause the pond is full of it.. do prepare some dead baits like kembong and also prawns.. if you’re using float method.. try the leader not longer than 2feet as the water there is really shallow.. maybe 5feet max..

For further clarifications.. wait for the KURAUKING to tell more about this pond.. overall its a good and challenging pond.. no catch .. keep on moving as the pond is huge.. i usually use 30lbs mono for my leader and try to keep the rod tip low and never give a chance for the siakap to jump up and cut off yout leader line. You could try using wire trace maybe 20lbs one will be sufficient.

biggest i’ve caught there is 3.5kg siakap..

Hi dreamworks, what icecube said is very true indeed, tides play a very important factor here in this ‘Angsa Paypond’ near the Starcruise Terminal, this is because the pond follows the seatides.
Best time to go is during strong tide and rising tide{air pasang} but another factor is, you need to know is whether the ‘Tokey’ releases fish or not and of what type of species. Lately due to fish shortage and price hike, i think most of these saltwater payponds here in klang valley will be effected.
You still can go to these paypond to kill some time as there are still fishes there, just not to put your hope too high though…hehehe…[:D]

There you go dreamworks.. a tip from KURAUKING himself..

well another infor for you to digest.. they’ve released fish on the 28/12/2006 and also on the 06/01/2007 as for the december one.. got some pek tiam, angchor and siakap.. but for the january one.. all siakap..

i’ve seen siakaps as huge as 6kg being landed before.. fight about 30 minutes.. imagine that.. somehow the fishes here are stronger fighter and also tast nicer.. look at KURAUKING and myself and you know that we’re not lying eheheheh

Hey krazie fishie…

Well best time i’m not so sure cause i’m not a tide guy but according to KURAU the KING… he said the best is when the tide is at its peak or coming in.. if i’m not mistaken la..

Baits : peel prawns, Kembong, selar, chicken meat.
rigs : well i usually go float not longer than 2 feet learder..
tracking with peel prawn works as well..

Place to fish.. behind the counter.. around the 1st corner … behind the water gate and the 3rd last pondok on your left as you drive in. try to cast near the pillars as i’ve got fishes there before.. Or if you can cast far… try using float method to cast in the middle.. i’ve seen siakaps about 5kgs.. hunting for food.. they jump out of the water and land back into the water.. really huge siakaps..

Fishing time.. most of my fishes either bites at 4.30 - 6pm period or 7pm - 9pm period.. other than that never try before cause too hot.. usually check in at night.

“The best feeling is when the fish is nibbling till you see the rod curves but not while waiting for it to nibble”

Hey.. forgot to mention.. lures not allowed.. and also you could try fishing for belanaks in the afternoon using smallest eagle hook with bread.. they fight very good in prawn pole setup..

i’ve used a belanak about 6inches before and landed a siakap 2.5kg.. hehehe[:)]

Icecube, you forgotten to warn them how slippery at the edge of the pond, wait KF bro go swimming into that pond and kena chase by barracuda then you know…hehehe…[:D]

[:D]Oh yes… you can expect to get varieties of fishes there…I for once caught an RM 30.00 sembilang there… taste vely-vely sweet loo… hehehehehe…

This weekend, I’m planning to fish the other part of Star Cruise area nearing Pulau Indah… low budget trip…(money finish already for children school fee..hehehehe) no hourly rate…free but to bring own baits, drink and food to guzzle… heheheh[:D]

Date: 20 January 2007
Time: 8am ~ 11am
Fishing Rod: 5
Fish Caught: 0
Fish Escape: 0
Bait Used: Selar, Kembong, Dead Prawns & also Live Prawns
Location: Near the water entrance

Remarks: Another trip to Pulau Indah pond that produced nothing to show for. Perhaps it could be due to the day which is not right but we tried everything we could think of. Bottom, float, casting. There was not even a single bite today.

At the water entrance, there was a group of 3 that caught 1 senangin during the whole period we were there as well.

Overall .. nothing but disappointment. Where do you think we went wrong?

Hi dreamworks bro, try going there during ‘Hightide - Strong Tide’{air pasang - air besar} or try using a surfcasting rod{whacking it to middle of pond}.
Yesterday{20/1/07} at 0800hrs - 1100hrs was ‘Lowtide’ - Strong Tide…[:)]
It’s kinna imposible not to get any fish at that pond, matter is what type of fish, if you are on Ultra-Light Set, go for the Mullet or Kitang, using smaller hooks and peel prawn{for kitang & pompano} or bread{for mullet}…[:D]
