i read this in TU or somewhere else(forgot). u know those little christmas lights ppl hang on them trees? they’re about ~1 inch long, some are even smaller. what they do is cut away the narrow end of the light bulb, fill it with small leadshots, or sand, and then seal the bulb with a blow torch. don’t know how convenient is that to u but, hey, it’s tough for me so i’ll just pass. hhahahah

the ‘cirit’ pills tube is a good alternative. in fact i wanted to explain that in the american forum but i will have a hard time explaining what ‘cirit’ pills are, so…hahahhahaha

Hey guys, i was just wondering… Like whistles generate a certain frequency when we blow it, can a similar concept be applied to lures to generate a frequency when water flows around or through it? Although i’ve never seen lures that have water flow through it, but it might be a concept worth studying.. what do u think?
I have seen lure such as River2Sea poppers has holes on its cup. The purpose is to creates more bubbles trail when retriving the lure. But dunno weather it creates frequency sound or not. But it is sure interesting to see a lure with such capability. Wonder how would the fish reacts to it?
there are lures with holes in their lips, which maybe acts in a similar way? i am not sure either. but it’s a nice thought though.
speaking a little on rattles; here are some points to ponder.
-rattles function in many ways. it grabs the attention of the fish by stimulating its lateral line with vibration. works good especially in murky waters where visibility is poor, this is where rattles ‘call out’ to the fish. on the other hand, smart buggers like the toman may repel lures with rattles, well, at least in my own experience.
-rattles in plastic bodied lures serve as a balancer/stabilizer as well. top end lures employ the weight-transfer-system in which on the csat, the weight shifts backwards to aid casting and then returns to its regular swimming position. some examples are the Aile-magnet of Duel.
rattles are made in many ways. the material used in the encasement ranges from diff kinds of metals to plastics and glass. all give different qualities.
the rattle balls. diff sizes and numbers give diff qualities. materials used to make them also alter the quality. some are lead, some tungsten, some stainless steel, some glass beads.
the rattle-to-encasement ratio. size of the chamber vs the rattle balls is also a factor to be considered
material of the body. hard, plastic bodies almost always gives a louder, more audible rattle compared to rattles in a wooden body which masks some of the rattleing effect instead of transmitting it
-and lastly, the fish. i was told that big fish prefer lower-toned noises(from bigger, lesser balls), and higher-pitched rattles(from many smaller balls) attract smaller species better. how true is it i am not sure. also, in highly pressured areas(as in fishing pressure), i have noticed fish are very weary of rattles. where i used to fish, the tomans will not touch anything that rattles, thus wooden lures without rattles work better.
so, to rattle r not to rattle, depends entirely on where u fish, and what u are fishing for. as for me, i love loud rattles for lures i hang on my rear-view mirror! like the sound everytime i jam-brake my car hahhahahahahha

I “[erfectioned” my rattle making method…u can use any tubular object, that’s cuttable in different sizes. I,for now use a carbon tube from an old rod my pap broke(limited edition only:D). I cut the tube in the size i want it. Afterwards i use a paper puncher(the onne FT uses in his 3D eyes tutorial) tu punch out some plastic sheet ot u can use aluminium cans as well.. … using ductape sitck the punched part to the tub, fit it with wathever can make it rattle, and do the same with it’s other end. And u’ll have a nice rattle.
U can fit almoust any size of lure with this type of rattle(well at least depanding on the tubular things u can get ur hands uppon). I mannaged to fit a 3cm, and a 3,5cm lure with rattle, so it ain’t impossible. Just use your imagination…
p.s. i used epoxy as well to fill up the ends. It’s messy, time consuming, and all the opportunities to mess the rattle up r there… This is a simpler method that i started using, that works really wel, and it’s really simple.
Yo! Why not try to make a rattler using a fuse tube? Made from glass and come with various sizes (depending on ampere ratings), it could be the best solution!
