Hi everyone, what is the most recomended 3.5 to 4.5 hp OBM? Weigth should be around 20kg or less. Shaft 15inches. I saw the Nissan Tohatsu seems to be good, anyone know where to buy this OBM or other Brand also as good?. Thanks.
Hi still no reply?
BTW which OBM better 4 stroke or 2 stroke? What is the difference?

Haloo Mr Innerzen, Tohaitsu brand is clone by Mariner fm Japan. That why nothing to woried about spare part as easy to find in market (in my openion). Quiet good depend to other brand and cost not to expensive. 5.0 HP at about RM 2K+++. Deferent with 4 Stroke and 2 Stroke not to much. 4 T is a new model coming this mellineum. Otherwise it much expensive and might be thier spare part hard to find. Hope I’am answer your question. see u later[:)]
Hi Gondrong, thanks for your info, I do hear some good conments on Tohaitsu. Who and where is the dealer? It seems all dealers are either selling mercury or Susuki.

4stroke Mercury is practically Tohatsu engine. In fact it is exactly the same Tohatsu engine, just rebranded and upped in price. Tohatsu builds the Nissan 4stroke too, so the three brands are exactly the same.
Be careful, check if the engine is really Tohatsu or similar name Tohaitsu, trust me you DON’T WANT China clone engine. The cloners hardly even know how it works, they just copy part by part, and piece together. The result, engine that’s guaranteed to fail you in the middle of lake. It’s not worth the few hundred cheaper price. I regret ever having one.
The main difference you’ll feel between 2T and 4T in the 4hp range will be the weight. Where 2T can weigh less than 20kg, 4T OB weighs around 25kg. For more details, there’s a lot of comparison between 2stroke and 4stroke OB in the web, just google it.
Hi anyone,
have new engine about 1.5 years old. only used it less than 8 times.
have not use the engine probably by 1 year.
any potential of the check can get jammed?

4-stroke is also quieter and less polluting. It doesn’t require 2T oil. Got money, go for 4-stroke.
Kucai,
thanks for the sharing. Good tips shared from that forum.

if the four strokes get into the water you overhaul it..think about it if you at river somewhere in kenyir, chasing sebarau with your buddy..if you using 2 strokes it was simple, just clean out water from the carburetor and clean the spark plug.in my 10years boating,my obm is more then 5 time drown into the water, even how careful you are handle it.for transportation 4 strokes little bit hard it lubricant oil always get into the crankcase and that mean you are in trouble bro.and the most afraid of about the timing chain or timing belt in the 4 strokes it only last for the certain hundred hour and you forgot to check on it,surely it happen to my second 4 stroke honda,
