So its maintenance time for my calcutta 50b. I was lucky enough to have a sifu teach me how to do it. So now i want to share the knowledge.
I’ll only cover the right side of the reel today and update this thread during the next maint.
Here are some basic tools i use
Take the right side apart lets call that part A
Remove in sequence
Handle screw - superstopper - nut - washer - star drag - 4 washers - 2 screws to remove the cover - main shaft with 2 bronze washers at the bottom just before bearing.
The main shaft fits in this sequence - metal tube for one way bearing - plastic round thing - metal drag cover - drag piece - main gear - small black drag - sharkfin gear (facing left) - small round gear - 2 washers. After taking everything part u should start to degrease everything with a solvent. I use lighter fluid.
Dry off everything and regrease (not too heavy) with a brush
NOTE: dont grease or oil the drag and its contact points or it will jerk.
Most bearings have clips protecting them. Please exercise extreme caution when handling the clips as they get lost VERY easily. Go slow and steady.
once again i soak the bearings in lighter fluid to remove grease or oil. Dry it off and add new oil.
Assemble all your parts together add grease to your screws and nuts. Give everything on the inside a light coat of grease for protection. A brush is very useful here.
Put everything back together and give it a wipe Now she’s good to go.
I’ll post about the other parts of the reel another day. Like the casting button and the lever wind (not sure whats its called)
Note: Never open your reel in public. Do it in a controlled environment.

My culcutta 50 will be wobling or “goyang” when ever i crank the reel. The problem is the rivet that hooked the silver plate to the aluminium frame is slightly loose. Is there any way to rectifiy this. Hope all sifu’s out there to give some advise.
bro how about abu 4600c3. esp the 6 pin centre brake. how to open. very hard due plastic material they use.scare might crack when force to open. can you find a solution?
Thanks bro Rorytate, I’ve sentin to a tackle shop in Rawang near the comuter station, but the guy said have to change the whole frame which i think ridiculous. I’ve tried put a small piece of paper and it work but for a while. After a few crank the paper losen out and start wobling again. Do you think if i put a paper than glue the paper with acoldite metal glue will work???
bro, aku pakai TICA Seaspirit SP248C. just nak tanya… camna cara paling sesuai untuk casting guna reel ni ar.. aku ada cuba tapi tali berbelit… bleh ajar skit. aku ni baru gak dlm arena nih… tolong yeeee
how to open spool bearing cross pin ..methods used in sealine website too complicated..do u have any simple method to open that cross pin. I got some problem when retrieving the bearing will cause uneasy sound. hope you can help me . thank you

Bandang,reel tu reel baru ke? Kalau bunyi hanya masa baling, kemungkinan besar dia punya centrifugal brake yg bunyi. Itu memang perkara biasa.

Cuba periksa bering pada 'shaft spool’nya, mungkin dah rosak. tentang saiz bering tu,saya kurang pasti. Elok dikeluarkan bering tu dan dibandingkan. Kalau nak tukar bering,elok dibawa bering yang lama masa beli bering. Harga bering yg biasa (bukan stainless steel) utk saiz di spool biasanya dalam lingkungan RM 10 je satu.
Kalau kita hantar servis dan replace bearing anti karat kat kedai, cemana kita nak tahu dia replace beraing anti karat atau dia taruk stainless steel biasa ajer?
