Rod for Tica Cetus

I’m looking for a rod to pair with my tica cetus reel. Currently i’m pairing it with a med light 6’ Fenwick Eagle GT 4-12 lbs which in my opinion is a little too stiff. I also have a Shimano Stimula 6’6" 6-10 lbs. The rod bends nicely and softer but the reel seat doesn’t really suitable for the reel foot.

So i’m looking for a 6’ or 7’ max 10 lbs rod. Budget is around RM150~200. Any suggestions other than Berkley Cherrywood are welcomed…

“Out for the thrill, not for the kill!”

I can’t stop laughin at last part where u put ‘other than cherrywood’ hahahahaha

Anyway just don;t get any lemax or the likes from that camp… unless you are loaded and prepared to srip down the blank and refurbish with your own guides, seat, handle etc

6’ UL rod… hmmm… St Croix premier? max rm250 but damn good rod. one pcs got two pcs also got, make in USA. Triumph which is the only thing cheaper. check this out: For Premier: http://www.stcroixrods.com/product/premier-spinning & For Triumph: http://www.stcroixrods.com/product/triumph

So far i only trusted in St Croix for my UL & L application spinning rod… so couldnt comment much on others hehehe

Novice angler here, any constructive advices greatly appreciated. Thank you

yeahh… cherrywood would become the no.1 suggestion if i don’t mentioned it. Agree on the lemax, good blank but crappy reel seat… frm my experience. I’m considering ryobi regno… still can’t decide…

anyway there’s a tica cetus rod 4-10lbs… might consider this one oso…

tica cetus rod??

Contrary point here, i pair my cetus with lemax protiny and i have not been looking for UL spinning since 2004. And i have good record that ppl that touch my rod or cast next to me that previously don’t have this rod have showup with this rod…

My guess is that i haven been rod shopping for long time to taste lemax current QC.

Ryobi regno cost quite a lot as well so might wanna check out a lil more(btw no worries bout their weight cos UL = light in weight for all rod tat spec except glass rod)… tica cetus rod never heard of but wont be as bad as lemax i presume

Gerard bro, not tat wanna discredit lemax however their quality really in question… 2-3 years ago i get quite a number of lemax due to their price, needless to say i regret it greatly as their component… wah no word can describe… Have one old lemax bought 5-6 years ago work very well but anyway anyhow i;m not gonna get any lemax product afterall tat’s it

where did u see this tica cetus rod? and how much does it cost?

GP bro,

I got myself 3 before, two have been sold off left only one which no longer function well n no longer being used.

However mine 2 are gold ones and the other one is the highest end one… the two u mention are the cheaper models without spare spool

Btw, i got 2 from UncleBob of tightlines which no longer available now and one more from Kuchai Lama tackle shop

Just got the LF version last week. Althouh only two bearings, it’s smoother than the GV and SS models i tried at the shop… strange though… what’s the damage on yer cetus?

and one of tjs’s cetus with me now. the sb500. hehe. second hand.

now i use it as backup for my other ul reel, okuma vsystem v-15a.

Hey guys… i decided to modify my Stimula’s reel seat and handle… now i’m using fuji DPSD 16 seat and black eva foam for the handle… all DIY… although the seat is much better that the ori wan.. it still doesn’t really hold the reel as firm as i would like… most of the rods with fuji seat i tested at few shops today oso the same… maybe this is normal… what say you?

Ohh yeah, i hv two cetus now… LF & SB… can’t resist the cuteness…[:p]

actually the cetus seat is kinda wide if you put it on a size 16 seat, u go one size up the reel foot won’t fit nicely.

Fuji seat are really good, forgot b4 this i’m used to BG10 and Banax ISO… both hv al body so i can’t really expect the same firmness on the cetus… my mistake

Fenwick Eagle GT has the best fit for this reel…

Hi. Just want to share my experience using tica Cetus.

I’m using tohunko 6’6 and protech 6’ for my Cetus. It is Very cheap rod but value for money. I use the tohunko at pay pond because it is a medium action rod and can help the reel to land the big fish. The protech rod I’m using to catch haruan. I’m Very happy with the performance.

P/s: I’m using 10 lb braid. The leader depends on the location. Max is 40 lb.

huhuhuhu. Just for extra protection. Because the drag of Cetus is not strong, usually it takes me a more time to land a fish especially for 1.5 kg upward.
