Hi guyz, firstly I do like to apologize if i post in the wrong section, but in here, there is a lot of otai Khakis like KNHT and so on, yet i like to seek an advice…I want to know if the below spool bearing can be remove, and how to remove it…The bearing got jammed when i fought a GT, yet i think only a small one…I put a little lubricant as advise in forums as over lubs can effect the forum smoothness…Darn the bearings..I thought using Ryoga is a ease of mine but nothing is a ease of mind when coming to fishing…!!!
all reels can spoil bro… yes… even the Ryoga, it’s not everything contrary to popular belief…
anyway. As for bearings, if u fear over lube, why not just flush it with zippo lighter fluid. Wash it n let it dry before you put in lubricant, it’ll be much smoother after you do so, provided the bearing still ok
well if bearing not ok… there’s a lot of way to remove the bearing… however, not all are recommended. Alternatively, u could go to tackle shop with the right tools to remove the pin tat hold this bearing. It’s better tat way rather than knocking it out via the crude way, damaging or bending of the spool shaft is the last thing u wan to have
in the event if the first step can’t help, which means the bearing kong edi. N second step is not valid. Try to contact fren’s tat have such tools. I have the specific tools to remove the pin, so far another person i know of that have this tool is Nyamaoan, also a MFN forummer… U can come over my place or anyone which have the to tools to have it removed n place in new bearings if u wan, only takes a couple of seconds to do

Hi, don’t think it’s available in M’sia market yet tho, market is really way too small(well at least at the distributors point of view)
anyway mine n Nyamaoan’s one was bought n brought in from US and Japan respectively… Price varies
bearing jammed? what kind of jam? totally cannot move or it moves with coffee machine grinding sound?
for the pin remover tool sold by Plat Japan, alternatively you can get one from Angler Outfitter in Singapore, they selling at S$64 per piece.
AS TJS suggested, you probably look for him or Nyaomoan and get them to help you remove the bearings, best still if you have replacement
bearings on hand, one shot can change…
thanks guyz…first of all the bearing cannot move, after a little play through it can move but with an extra coffee grinding sound…more like a dc with low batt…can this bearing be save or just throw it away…

wah, meaning the ball bearings hancur liao, dun think can salvage anymore…how big is the baby GT? did you run your bearing dry?
if you dont have proper tool,some other still can do the job.I usually use small pipe wrenches.I lock it up at desired height and gently press the pin.I’ve tried with most Abu spool, and it works! but bear in mind,done it with extra caution!you take the risk.
as for the jammed bearing,removed it and bring it to local bearing supplier.There is no “special size bearing” mention by local fishing shop.It is the only reason they can squeeze our hard earn penny.It fall under micro and miniature bearing.Looks for SKF,NTN or NSK brochure.Ask for stainless steel type. gud luck.quick reference,dimension size for general daiwa bearing is; 5x11x4 and 3x4x10

this is the earlier gt, the one that jammed by bearing got away, it manage to slip the line to the rock below, i thumb the spool like hell to prevent that from happening yet it manage to escape with price…[B)] Kannnene punya GT, Makan modai lor kali nih…[:D][:D]

Personally, i would not buy spool bearings from the likes of SKF or Kian Ho. I do buy from them to replace the bushing/bearings on other parts of the reel but not spool bearings. I suggest you order the ABEC 7 Stainless steel or ceramic bearings from Boca Bearing (http://www.bocabearings.com/), buy a set f 5x11x4 and 3x10x4 for your ryoga 1016 (you can order using the Steez or Conquest 50 but check the bearing size in the pack before confirming). If ordering just a pair, ask them to ship using registered airmail which is cheaper.
Alternatively, go to Ebay and look for ZPI SiC Bearings, more expensive than boca and that you need to look for more reputable sellers (high power rating is probably a good indicator) to avoid buying fake one.
although it looks simple to make, but do near in mind the high precision and tight tolerance or otherwise you may risk bending the pin or worst still, the spool shaft.

I just serviced my Daiwa Millionaire Bay Casting spool bearing which i believed quite similar to Ryoga. I just use a carpenter vice, a nail (to drive the pin), hammer and steady hand. Ask a friend to hold the spool when you strike the nail to drive out the pin.
