Semporna Lure Casting and Diving!
Like Saltigagt said it was a fantastic trip, although the fishing was not that good, but overall it is indeed memorable trip for the otekers..
Day 1, 7th March 2009
Henka was the 1st otekers to arrived, so we did a morning session of fishing at my favorite land base fishing. We did some lure casting and ISO fishing, upon arriving to the spot, there were fishes everyway especially our main target the giant mullet. Try as we might the mullet just ignore my offering, however our hard work paid off, with Henka landing his 1st mullet using my lure casting outfit!!! Sh*t!! Later of the day we landed somemore mullets and busted a few bigger mullets.
Afternoon came…. There I was looking at two more otekers arrived from airport, Saltigagt and Tarponmike. After checking in, we had a quick lunch and off we go the mullet spot again. However the mullets were not as willing anymore to open their mouth. We berley and berley but the mullets just brushes our offering aside. Somehow, after berleying a whole loafs of breads only then the mullets are taking the bait without any hesitation, is like there is bell that triggers the mullets to eat. With the sudden change of situation, so apalagi, off went two iso rods and one fly rod.. Soon we were happily landing mullets after mullets.

Day 2, 8th March 2009
D-Day!
Everybody has been looking forward to this day, after loading our arsenal to the boat off we go to our destination. With 230hp pushing from behind, we reach our spot at record time! The usual 1 hour ride cut down to 40mins! If there were a speed limit on the sea, we will be issued one without doubt! Anyway, on the way to the spot we came across a feeding frenzy! The predators were munching and chopping up the approximately 4 inch bait fish and we were casting 10 inch popper, so I guess you know what is the result lah.. haha…[:D] After the encounter we continue our journey to our destination. Upon reaching to the spot, we did some popping at the few promising spot, for about 1.5 hrs before we went for jigging. During my previous trip I had encounter a fish which nearly spooled my line out. Hoping to pay back my revenge but unfortunately no biggies were around. After continuous jigging for two hours or so, we decided to go diving, actually it was just saltigagt and tarponmike are diving. Henka and I, continue to do some lure casting at a shallow reef. Surprisingly the catches was not bad, or should I say fantastic, we were hitting fish after fish. They were so many of them, until we were practicing size limits, we only pick the bigger ones for dinner. Anything smaller than 500gm was released back! Huhuhuhu We only cast for about an hour and already we had more than enough fish to feed us for 2days! Haha the remaining fish we caught the rest of the day was released back!! But of course the 7 Star groupers are kept lah… hehehe[:p][:D]

Day 3, 9th March 2009.
All good times will comes to an end eventually, but what a trip it has been! Good food, good fishing, good diving and great companions! Tarponmike has to be at the airport by 4:00pm today, and saltigagt and henka have to be in lahad datu by nite fall. Well we do have another morning to go, best thing to do now is to rest. But no… we hit the road again to my in-laws private pond for Jelawat bashing! Equip with Iso rods and fly rods, soon we were already tugging the jelawats at the other end of the line! We were so into it, until we forgot all about lunch and went on fishing until 2pm.

Overall, it was a great trip, we fish hard and uses every minute we had in Semporna, not even seconds was spare, all the time we had are for fishing and talking bllsht. What a trip! Otekers!! We should do this more often man! It was great!
