Dapat 800kg ikan in one trip… I guess the “take home what you need” concept is unheard off in Malaysia.
bolehland and her bolehsians…i wonder how has that article helped the angling industry in general?

WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT
Does not help at all!! Usually this kind of ‘harvest’ is practiced by the older generations of anglers or before the “Rod & Line” era. After the existent of the magazine we slowly see more C&R anglers, now we have all kind of magazines and forums to educate and promote C&R, bag limits, legal size and etc. Only time will tell now, hopefully in the near future we will have more C&R anglers. Hopefully not too long thou… [:)]
Cheers

Do you mean older generations are people like Junglebum, Mr D, Tony Wee, Ubob, uncle jam, Uncle Thomas, Siakap, Albert Gan, Culky, EK wong and some others… there are younger generations too that destroy our heritage, dont look far, go to certain sections of MFN and you can find them…please dont generalise.

Tiger,
we are old, that is a fact however, it is our duty to teach them young one the actual trills to angling and to to the harvest. what we sorely need to do is to educate the journalist as well. most of these pen pushers had hardly any insights into angling and can only measure the “trill” factor to be equivalent to the size of the harvest. They still do not get the equation of ONE 10kg fish is better than 2000 100g fish. To these uneducated so-called writers the sheer volume speaks of great success and getting only one fish is most disappointing. That is the malaysian journalistic ways.
I am actually more disappointed with Berita Harian’s Joran to having carried the report of netting the Kelah. This is the proported angling section of a national newspaper that is shaping to promote angling as a healthy sport activity but carried an article that its writers being rightfully proud to go netting for kelah that are no more than a foot lenght. Sad…sad…sad

Sorry, did’nt meant to generalise, what i am trying to say is before the existent of local fishing magazine era. Before the existent of local fishing magazine, the C&R concept is nearly never heard off. Except for the international magazines and media. But after the existent of local fishing magazines, we start too see more ethical angler. Cheers[:)]
