Sailfish Maddness in Kuala Rompin

First day - 290 landed
second day - 219 landed.
average size -40kg’s & above

hundreds of snapped lines,straiten hooks.

the sea was actually was boiling of them..they are still there.

its the best time to head there.

Looks like its peak breading period and we were just at the right spot at the right time.Imagine about 500 sailfish at one spot.
i think we were actually ‘potong stim’ their mating ritual :stuck_out_tongue:

Uncle Tom,it was good to see you in action

It was a pleasant surprise to see you there too RK, hope you enjoyed the trip. Fishing was good all the way till the last minute. My biggest fear is that the news will spread like wild fire, just pray that the commercial fishermen don’t net them for export.

Was informed by a friend last nite that there are juvenile sails of 2-3kg in a wet market in Penang. Reported to have been caught in Kelantan waters. [:(]
This is not the 1st time they ended up here since another friend of mine showed me a 600gm one sometime back.
Looks like they are breeding in our malaysian waters but tragically end up in nets. Lets just hope that they are by-catches rather then target species by the netters.

We already molested them a week before Royal Pahang. For the report on our very own Royal Longkang International Billfish Challenge 2011(RLIBC2011), please see here.

RK,it was exactly a month ago…17-19 Sept
The sails will still be around but whether they are still hyper active as last month is another question
