My friends took me to a saltwater paypond here to do some fishing as I have been itching to wet some lines.
According to the info at the payment counter, there are grouper, siakap, red snapper, MJ, tilapia and parrot fish or what the local considered as parrot fish. Cost of fishing at the place is RMB300 for 3 hours. If you wanna fish further then you will have to buy another block - another RMB300 for another 3 hrs.
As it’s expensive, I wanna check out the place before paying [after being an idiot the last time]…I went around the place…total…15anglers were already fishing there…total catch???..3 super mini siakaps, 2 super super mini MJ, 1 newborn grouper…and these fellas were already there for almost 2 hrs…yet these fellas were very happy with the catch…???..really can’t really figure out what the locals thinks..
I decided to pass on this pond but my friends insisted in fishing here so I accompanied them [2 fellas] for the next 3 hours…enjoying so real cold beers…after 3 hours…my friends catch were…1 super mini siakap, 2 newborn MJ and 1 red snapper which I would definately throw back into the pond as its about the size of 2 fingers.</font id=“purple”>

Looks like Recreational Fishing still has to take off in China. Any ideas concerning your owning a real pay pond while you are there ? [:p][:p][:p]
Thanks Mike…would love to start a pay pond over here if the hassles from the local authority is less or more investor friendly as I have yet to see a pay pond that does not make money. If you actually see the amount of anglers here [esp during the weekends] going after all the newborns and babies, there is no way you don’t make decent monies from this venture.
Further to the above reason, the disparity between the rich and poor is so wide. Most anglers here comes from the rich sector or at least way above average whereby to see anglers using stellas or saltigas, at pay ponds are normal.</font id=“purple”>

Brother,
There is a housing development in Dongguan which is situated on a piece of land jutting out into a huge and beautiful reservoir. That means the properties there would be surrounded by waters on three sides. Foreign investment is allowed. Grab one there. With that you may fish 24 hours a day and 7 days a week… but dont get weak[:D][:D][:D].
Zuju,
If I am not mistaken, the place you are talking about is at the Shuilian Mountain Reservoir. I have to be a multi millionaire to be able to own 1 unit there[:D]…further to this…if pay pond over here is not even worth fishing…the reservoir is gonna be worst. I have been fishing at a few reservoirs here [it’s not free…have to pay at least RMB20]…results???..most of the time…banggau…even at times where there are bites…all the catches are CnR sizes.</font id=“purple”>
wong sifu. long time no hear. hope all is great there (other than fishing, since u already told us about that).
guess there’s no place like home huh.
Thanks Nyamaoan…I am getting a little desperate as EK is gonna visit in Sept…hope to be able to source out a place to satisfly his needs[:p][:D][:D][:D]</font id=“purple”>

I saw the sales promotion in Shenzhen. Cannot recall the name, brother.
If we get a fish at every cast, I dont think you like to go fishing. It becomes a boring affair. Because there is no more challenge[:D]
I suppose the tougher it is, the sweeter the success[:I]
Cheers.
WKL2020 Bro,
you really seem to be having little luck in fishing in china.
I just got back from Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Took a detour to Autou to fish but it was so hot and humid (it is winter in melbourne now so the hot chinese weather was a real shock to my system) that I decided not to go out.
Autou has changed a lot in the last 3 years since i was there. There are lot’s of new condos and the empty land in front of the jetty is now beautifully paved.
There are 5 fishing tackle shops on the shopping strip facing the sea. They all do charters.
There are charters taking you to the nearby reefs - don’t expect big fishes on these. Cost between RMB600 to 800 for 4 people. Leave at about 7am and return about 5pm.
My friend who owns a boat there went out last week and caught about 30 fishes. Not big - averaging 300gm.
Then there is the deep sea charter - 2 hours out to sea near some islands. If the bragging board in the fishing tackle shops are a real indication of what you can get then this is the trip for you. Cobia, mackeral, snapper, managrove jack and all sorts of fishes uo to 20kg+!!
Cost ranges from RMB1500 to 1800 per day per boat. Each boat takes 4 pax. that’s about RMB375 per pax - not bad.
I will pull out their business cards and post their telephone numbers tomorrow. You really should go there and give it a go. It is an hours drive from shenzhen.
Attached below is a photo of the bragging board in one of the shops. They all seem to be really friendly too.
Wkl2020,

good luck. hopefully this will break your fishing drought in China. Do post some photos of your catches. Seems they don’t need a lot of notice. a couple of days in advance is all that’s required.
You will have to bring your own gear. None of the shops there sell any good reels. Mostly cheap chinese made ones. Lots of lures and jigs thought. Most rods are also chinese made - will do the job but tend to be on the heavy side.
