Aznaff, I resent you commenting on my style…but what do you mean by the term “FULL LOCKING”? Please elaborate I’m curious to know and some other casters might also benefit by your new found WISDOM

Don’t be offended lah…joke2 only!

No wisdom to this lah, just follow the fundamentals of good casting which I’ve picked up from our fellow casters in UK and Singapore, and of course observing our very own no.1 Edi.

My interpretation of FULL LOCKING is bending the rod to your maximum ability. Besides establishing the PLANE and ARC, I totally subscribe to having a SNAPPY FINISH to achieve greater distance.

A good snappy finish and correct trajectory angle can only be achieved if we bend the rod to its maximum at the RIGHT TIME! nothing earlier or later.

Most of our casters including me power-up too early thereby we are unable to execute the snappy finish and naturally impacts distance. Early so call full locking will cause us to loose control of the cast, not able to sustain the bend, disturbs the arc/plane, bad trajectory angle etc.

Just my thoughts…

When distance is concern where got joke2 only. If want to joke2 go join raja lawak.
Distance casting is a very serious sport, where casters put in their heart and soul into the cast. We get injured in this high performance sport and that sir, is NO LAUGHING MATTER.

Well…if you feel that it is not a laughing matter, then I suggest you seriously observe other “competent” casters’ technique of doing things!

Friendly advice from fellow casters who continuously observe your casting technique should be seen with an open mind. Adopt if it suits and ignore if it is useless but just be thorough and wise when making decisions,

As I see it, injury happens in all high performance sports but many of the injuries can be avoided if you learn/analyse/remedy the mistakes that you make and not to repeat the same mistakes.

A clear example, if you find that bending the rod early and trying to hold the compression till the end and not able to finish the cast gracefully to achieve distance, then I guess it is only logical to review your whole technique instead of religiously going through the casting routine over and over again!

This will obviously lead to potential injury and not gaining much in distance. … again something you need to seriously think about!

Another humble advice, our body do tell us if it is hurting…listen closely to it and stop to review to avoid permanent injury. The saying “no pain no gain” I personally think does not apply here lah!

Aznaff,
I thought full locking means kunci habis or kunci penuh. That it mean, once you kunci habis already and if you cannot find the kunci to unlock the full locking then that cast cannot go very far lah. It is a new term to me coz I don’t recall other top casters using this term. I need to familiarise myself with a lot of new casting terms(maybe you juz made up this new term to suit yourself like what dolah said last time, remember?) will continue later got to tani with the senior casters in old taste setiawangsa.

Imagine this dramatic scene…the caster already achieve full locking then upon turning from a 270 degree angle…turn turn…going for a super duper snappy blast then (he realise he cannot find the kunci) eh eh ah ah ayo tak larat the cast goes to the left luar kamar(caster chanting curses and swearing good words)
Finding the key to full locking is very crucial to a good cast or isn’t it…I don’t know?

I think the key to full locking is not to lock yourself in!but always keep the key in your hands…

In other words…you must always be in control of the situation, in control of the cast!

Sure can go far and win “air tin” from Bro Onn…he he.

Before I go to bed I must tell all of you this. Juz nw at Old taste we had a good debate zdin and myself(full locker big arc) vs Aznaff (half/less lock & no arc) but ofcourse we can’t talk much coz aznaff now casting farther than us. We all talk a bit only he will ask who further. He say whatever it is we must salam and settle in court…we all tunduk je…

As for the full locking, I think only en rahim, zdin and Opi understand what it means! You and I better just keep quiet and show them our distance only lah, what ever style or locking.

Come to think of it, we all also now casting distance getting poorer lah…he he.
