It was a cloudy Monday morning [30/03/09], the sea was quite choppy, but we planed on with some sore butts when we reached the bait catching unjam. We managed to catch about 30 selar in 30 minutes before we plied on to the fishing ground, but on the way, we saw big swirls and Sky shouted GTs, I let go a Williamson silver/blue skirt for a 8 knot troll and let Hakim to hold the rod, and before I could rig up another set, the Ambassaduer6500 screamed and Hakim handed the rod to the rightful owner Jonathan to fight the fish. It was pump and crank workout for Jonathan who was using the multiplier for the first time, trying to reel in the fish clumsily with his left hand and after retrieving a 100m of line we could see a silvery flash about 20m away, GT GT, commented Sky, no it was a Sagai when he gaffed the fish, see the picture, not bad for the first fish of the day.

The Sagai was a booster and soon every one were doing real fishing with earnest as we drifted along with live selar. Jonathan had another strike, something was jumping at a distance, chey todak, I commented, but no the stripping of line is fast and strong, not todak, but what was that ? See Jonathan fighting the fish.

Heheh, Jonathan’s second fish, it was a beautiful queenie.

Then it was Ryan’s turn, he had a big strike with the TS ROD, that bugger almost broke Jonathan’s light Stroker, look at the way he bent the rod as he tried to surface the fish for Sky to grab the leader with Jonathan looking on worrying at the sight of the bent of his rod, phew !!

It was another queenie.

Then Hakim got a big strike, a queen jumped at a distance, come on
‘pump the queen’ some one commented, haha everyone LOL. See another beautiful queen.

Then we had a double hook up, one by Ryan and one by Hakim, he got a coral trout more than 2kg, wow look at the double header.

Then Ryan again landed a small kaci and a parrot.

That was unusual , Sky landed a mother puffer which could not puff and blow, perhaps it was too old for bjob.

The highlight of the day, Jonathan managed to hook up his first historical sail with a light rod. See the bending of the rod.

Jonathan was smiling from ear to ear, look at that happy man who got his personal record.

After a snap shot, Sky revived the fish.

The sail was released and it swam upright away as we waved good bye.

It was the most memorable trip for Jonathan and his friends all first timers.
