Seahawk Bass 103

Hi,

I’m totally new in fishing…but i fall in love with baitcasting.
So would like to get opinion from the sifu2 bout this LP casting reel.what do you guys think bout this casting reel?any pro and cons?what is the price?
what rod should i paired it with?
Is seahawk bass 103 able to withstand the power from fish like toman? coz seahawk bass 103 caught my attention.
I’m more into freshwater fishing.
i’m in low budget(below RM 300) is the budget sufficient to get a casting set(reel and rod) to fish toman,sebarau…

300 bucks? go look at the banax sedna.

or the banax lexima. that’s one beautiful looking reel.

or look at ajiking? they got the tournament queen model. and i saw another newer model out recently. can’t remember what it’s called. i think higher-end than the tournament queen.

a word of advice to newbies. good items are almost never cheap, and vice versa. there are often times when something sounds to good to be true, u know?

u get what u pay for. if u paying for something cheap, expect quality to be in that range, and remember not to compare it with something that’s higher end. if u understand this, then go ahead and buy it with an INFORMED mind!

when buying items, the best bet would be to get ‘something mainstream’, and not the lowest-end nor the highest-end. save a little more and work towards the mainstream items. they may be a bit boring but, hey, not everyone’s born rich to satisfy all their whims n fancy, eh?

i believe by doing so, u will balance out the goods & the bads. this should be your priority. and when u have used that long enough, when u decide to upgrade, u will understand why high-end stuffs are expensive, and what cheap products are made of.

with that said, i also don’t believe in paying silly money for a few mods/gimmicks/blings on top of what would be an already expensive item!

depending on how u fish, a setup of below rm300 is quite possible if ur quarry is toman & sebarau. i am sure JT(kurauking) can be kind enough to help u there if u pay a visit to his shop. say u budget rm100(plus-minus) for a rod and rm200(+/-) for a reel, i’m sure something around those figures can be worked out. maybe add a bit more lah…

with cheaper alternatives coming out from newer brands/manufacturers, sometimes the mainstream arena can be a bit challenging. traditional powerhouses like Shimano, Daiwa, Abu etc are given a run for their money by Relix etc, especially in the highly contended, lucrative lower-to-medium range segments.

sometimes we ask ourselves, is it worth to buy a low end product by a famous company (say, rm150) or is it a smarter choice to buy a higher end item from a less known company for the same price? dilemma…

brand worshiping, brand recognition etc… or simple value-for-money?

u decide. u are the buyer. u have the power to choose.

ask around just to get some ideas before u commit urself to purchase.

if at the end of the day ur still indecisive, i’ll try to work out a deal with u if u dun mind buying a 2nd hand BC setup from me. [:D]

As for me… i just listen to the pro here lah hahaha… however no banax/seahawk/ajiking for me difinitely, been there try tat… just dun like it one bit… too much lose part and not smooth, just to name a few of my opinion. For that price range, i dunno y, but i hav a certain affinity towards Abu maxx series hahaha, been there touch tat and impressed.

Btw, just my opinion bro… if u listen to wat i told u, then you’ll remember in the end u r still the buyer and the choice is purely yours to make

TJS has a weird fetish for Abu’s Max Series reels, especially the Black Max.
Dunno why he keep talking about Max Series when he got Calcutta, Millionaire, Conquest, etc.
But Max Series also quite well recommended for ppl on a budget. Can seriously consider that i think, bro tomaxx. But dun have to take my word for it la, since i’m also ultra newbie (ultra newbie is more noob than newbie… hehe) to bc.

Totally agreed with what F3T3R said. DONT go for TOYS that are masked as reels in the market. Even for newbies, dont decide hastily. Get as much opinon from sifus here [T3T3R, LS, TJS, etc]..collate all their opinions [some can be biased toward certain brands]…make your own comparison…shortlist about 5 models…go to tackle shop to touch/feel/try these shortlisted models…decide which model look/feel/suits you best…compare price of various shops…buy it…use it…be happy with it…if anyone comes along saying that your choice is wrong…@#^%&*$ them…its YOUR CHOICE![:D]</font id=“purple”>

not looking for white mice. but seriously, the banax zest for its price i think should be not bad, since wkl’s uncle also recommended that. n i saw it yesterday. feels not bad for that price. not bad at all. now tce having year-end sales. if u’re a member, can get extra discount somemore. go take a look first la.

i think it’s not a matter of how much time u spend looking around (coz sometimes the longer u wait, the more u see, n more confused u get)… but it’s how much info u can dig up from ppl n tackle shops. do enough research, make a decision, n buy. dun delay too long. more headache only. at least that’s what i experienced la.

in order to buy my first bc, i became active in the tackle review room for at least 1-2 months i think. haha. talking to all the sifus here, asking them questions, then going to tackle shops with some sifus.

at the end of the day, it would still be up to me.

i think it’s important to set a budget first la. dun move your budget around too much. otherwise like me only, went up n down with my budget, undecided n obsessed with making a decision for so long. u just ask wkl2020, tjs, etc… how many times i call them to kacau them n discuss what i should buy. haha.

ask kurauking if he still got any max reels at his shop la.

if dun have, most other places around klang valley the prices quite standard one la.

or u ask wkl2020. this sifu got a lot of ‘kang tao’ one. can find good price for a lot of things. last time he told me of a place that can get quite cheap, but not in klang valley la.
anyway, he should know a lot of tackle dealers la i think. his ever-expanding collection of tackle stuff depends on it. hehe.
