We(shtang, starfish and me) went to Sealion pond 5(21/9/2007) and manage to land a 3.6kgs GT. I was using mullet on float rig, a shimano sustain 4000 and my lucky Daiwa Procaster rod.

Thanks ming, nothing much we can do for the GT, it swallow the whole hook, paypond GT is kinna smelly so we decide to C&R the GT but it took the whole hook deep, realeasing it whoud meant dead fish at the pond, we gave it to a Abang who happens to want the fish…[:D]

Do you have clue if this is farmed GT or wild GT? From the fin that looks under-developed versus the size of it, I would guess it is a farmed GT.
Seen 1 cage full with GT like this when I was in P ketam fish farm last year but din got chance to have a real look on how a farmed GT would looks like.
Got any idea, Kurau Ong?
Hi ktang, you are correct, its Farm GT. Nowadays lots of breeders breeds GT around Pulau Ketam area, i have caught some wild ‘Farm GT’ myself around thoese ‘kelong/sangkar’ area and i find that even in the wild(escaped GT), their fin and tail are undergrow, this might be due to the habitat(space constraint) and diet. Those breeders uses ‘fertiliser’ mix with baitfish to feed them, causing them grow faster. Prolly due to these factor, those Farm GT is lack of excersice unlike their wild cousin hence having a smaller tail and fins…[;)]
