Been here once before, huge place! I fished at the spot near the highway. Just a little climb downhill. Didn’t catch anything.

been there twice..only got severel bites from toman, using anak keli..i usually fish after d building..it’s not that huge laa..

this is usually the problem, commonly and or easily accessible fishing spots are usually barren as there would be too many fishing there. Less accessible spots may be better but also likely to less safe.
this is also the reason to the popularity of payponds. Most are comfortable and some have a good bite rate. Safety is also not a concern and with a canteen, it is also a place to lepak as well even if you are not fishing.
semenyih dam don’t have anything laaaa… over fishing.. better go find other spot la…

cannot agree that a dam this big does not hold fish, more likely that most are fishing at the few common spots. these are the mostly easily accessible spots that you can get to straight from your car. if you do really want to fish at this dam, be prepared to go to the lesser fished spots but it is usually difficult to get to but most importantly also less safe. Robbery is not be as uncommon as you may think.
Years back I spent one night at one location reachable by boat. Don’t think I’ll ever go there again.

why don’t you try to go there and pls catch some fish, then post it here. I think it’ll help a lot. have u ever fish there? have u ever fish on the common or lesser fished spot? any experience or fish pic?

I used to stay in Seremban and did go there with the locals. There are fish there and the locals still fish there. If there are no fishes there, these would be the first to stop going.
The main obstacles to fishing at this place is that everyone like to fish at the usual and convenient spots. At weekend, you would find a dozen ppl fishing at the regular spots just by the road. with such fishing pressures at these spots, no wonder it is difficult to get any fish let alone big ones.
This dam is also heavily netted which also contribute to the low fish rate.
Without launching a boat (which is illegal) and going further into the less frequented areas is the only way. Some of the locals says even there, there are nets.
I do believe that there are still fish there as the locals are still selling their catch. I have on occasions saw belidas and big lampams being sold at the market.
yea… going by boat also quite hopeless… lots of netting and other destruction activity going on, witnessed first hand

that’s the clue TJS, if there is no fish there, the locals will not be netting there. however, fishing at these netting areas can be uncomfortable if not dangerous. if you are casting lures and and hooked their nets, you may end up paying for their ‘damaged’ net. usually these spots are also faraway from public view and robbery can be a real danger. there had been reports of robbery and extortion at many spots within the area of Semenyih Dam.

That is nice to hear … but it was only a few months ago that a newspaper reported about a poor guy who got killed while fishing there.
Robbery ? Revenge ? Wrong person ? - dunno, but I am not going to stick around to find out.[xx(]
my personal opinion, there are better places to fish other than this place. no point insisting on going there.
simply just on the safety level, would be the deciding factor.
EK.agree…not worth the risk vs possible catches vs time and logistic nightmare..
