Semenyih Plabuk

Went pond fishing last sunday at Semenyih. Didn’t know that plabuk do exist at this pond until my friend melvin hook onto one. Although not big but gave hell of a fight with his ‘prawn’ fishing rod. Shoot out like a train once hook and anglers at the other bank was force to reel in their line to prevent line tangles. Caught alot of big a*s rohu as well. Average size 3 to 5 kg. Total fish caught was about 9 rohu’s, One plabuk, one haruan on spinner and a sesat Tilapia merah. Hehehe. Nice scenery .. but spoiled by heavy rain about 4pm when we were about to leave. Enjoy the pic guys [:D][:D]

Melvin Rohu

Plabuk that was foul hook by its tail

Briank,

I also not too sure. But as according to my friend, the plabuk eyes is bigger n rounder than patin. The colour also different. This is also the first time I see a live plabuk.

Hehe.. Yup yummy. Very healthy also those fish..

Leo, & james,

Post some pic la bro.. especially melvin prawn rod. Hehe..

Hahaha…james got the ‘prawn rod’ pic in his camera.

I’ve read about this somewhere in the Rod & Line one to two issues away of them stocking up the Plabuks in Semenyih pond.
Jerry, just wandering what type of baits were you using for the rohu?
The usual dedak?

Briank,

Patin and plabuks are in the same family the only thing that differentiate this 2 species is the shape of the mouth section and the placing of the eyes. Bungsamran is famous because of their pla buks. and they grow up to the magic mark of 20++kgs. Thats a back straining fishing..ehehe Apart from that ive no idea about their scientific names but the plabuk is called patin buah in BM

This place is called Fish Valley which is situated in Semenyih, thats where sukida resort is too.

Ckangchoh,
yes this is the place that was features in RnL some back issues. The problem that they are facing is that nobody has ever caught a plabuk which takes their bait !!!..till now (if im not mistaken) nobody has ever caught them. The owner is having a headache, that he himself doesnt know wat does the plabuk feeds on !!

once an angler, always an angler

ming,
thanks for clearing that up for me. it was confusing, as both patin and plabuk look the same. i have seen the pics of plabuk from other members that have fished bungsamaran, those fish are huge eh.

[:)]

no worries mate…get a chance ill post up a patin pic for you to differentiate. Patin brings a shimmering silver color on it whereas the plabuks has the dull mustard hue on it. Both is categorized under the catfish family. In english, patin is called striped catfish. (if im not mistaken)

once an angler, always an angler

CK,

We use dedak but mixture of santan and some “magic oil” provide by james and leo. As they have just came back from bungsamran not long ago..the bought back some. Mix with belacan as well.. we tried many many different type of dedak all provided by the sifu (leo & james) who frequent this place often.

Thanks jav. Maybe we are indeed lucky [:D] Haven’t been to sukida this days but i remember during the old days flying rod into the pond is a normal occurance there. I personally had two rods inside the pond. Record was a 12kg pacu taken on bread 3 years ago.

Bro, is this the pond on the left hand side when going on the way to Nirvana Memorial from Semenyih?
