Shangri-La Rasa Ria fishing info required

I will be staying at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria near Tuaran for two weeks from the start of next month.

I am looking for information on Saltwater fly-fishing the beach area and what sorts of fish I could expect to catch. Are there mangroves close by? What would be the fly of choice? etc.

Thanks

Kingfisher

Any bones in the area? I read the othe post regarding bonefish!

Mikey or any of our Sabahan flyers,

Can you assist this kingfisher([:)]) from UK? … but don’t tell him where the bones are… until we’ve caught some ourselves.[:D]

Kingfisher,

When you are at Shangri-La Rasa Ria, ask them if they can send you to Tanjung Badak, which is 5 mins away from the resort. There’s a restaurant there with a floating fishing platform which they charge RM10 per entry. Lots of good size tarpon from 1 to 2kg when the tide is right.

Have reported it here some times ago but i think the thread is gone.

Do contact me when you are around.

Mikey

Any IGFA bonefish on fly we can aim for there? BTW, kingfisher we all have a sudden urge to go for world record fish here nowadays. We got bitten by a bug somehow.

Thanks for the information!

I am not after any IGFA fish. I would rather catch and release quantity. But then you never know, caught a double figure Bonefish last year in Cuba.

Small tarpon will do nicely after the long UK winter. I am not used to the long winters as I am a South African and prefer the sunshine…

Any more info on flies and what else I could catch?

Thanks.
