Hi, anyone want to talk about the Fireblood? Not that I have one, but I’m drooling over the Fireblood 1000FA. So light, so smooth, so lovely…
chris bro,
http://www.fishing.net.my/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7714&whichpage=13&SearchTerms=fireblood
some say it’s a rebadged sephia
some say it’s based on the stella
some say it’s between the stella and aspire
some say they wouldn’t pay so much for it, rather get a Hyper Certate [:p]
some say it’s the bee’s knees [:D]
some say they’d rather get the sustain [8D]
how much is it now, btw?
back then in 2007, Unc Thomas said it’s around Rm1000-RM1300
Well i think the current price is still about there. Cheapest i think is at Ocean Tackle, member price slightly over a thousand. Could this reel be just a rebrand of another reel? What would Shimano do this? I have never used a Sephia or a Sustain or Twin Power, but the FB sure feels good in my hands.
the difference in names is due to (usually) targeted market segment/region, pretty much like cars. Eg nissan latio here and in singapore is TIIDA (1500cc) in Japan and Versa in the US (US version comes with 6-speed).
even so, there is a slight possibility internals might differ, again due to targeted market and usage of that market.
try out similar/comparable reels, ie:
a) sedona
b) sustain
c) ultegra
d) biomaster
e) navi
of the 1000 series, for feel, heft, smoothness and of course $$$ [:p]
performance-wise, need to scour for reviews, feedback or better still, someone whom you know.
I think the Twinpower is in a different league - wot say Shimano connoiseurs here?
from shimano site, i find the sustain closest to the stella in terms of:
i) tech (identical)
ii) specs (identical)
iii) performance (debatable [:)])
iv) materials (body differs i think)
made in malaysia sustain 2500 series RM800 + change
made in japan sustain 2500 series RM850 + change
find out as much as you can, then decide
do you NEED this or WANT this? [:p]
all the best
please tell us more about your fireblood, bro. [:D]
certate and luvias are in a league of their own.
some might say different segment.
share with us about your luvias when you have the time.
how does zaion hold up?
does it flex when fighting strong fish?

hello,
the new zaion bodied luvias is one heck of a light & smooth reel. i am using the 3000 sized luvias.
accidentally</font id=“red”> caught a 25kg sailfish on it last year, managed to subdue it in about 15 mins. also accidentally</font id=“red”> managed to land a 2.5kg parrot fish on it with much difficulty. i forgot to bring the proper reel at that time, so had to make do with the luvias.
all i can say is the luvias is not meant for these quarries. under extreme pressure, the is flex noted on the reel foot stem. the rotor seems strong enough, and the body plates are ok. the gears are OK.
currently the reel is
used for toman, sebarau, siakap, mngrove jack, tenggiri. performs extremely well there.

WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT
thanks for sharing, FT.
good compact review [:D]
so, there is flex at the foot stem.
scary [:0]
accidents where the fish were the victims … LOL
how is your baby, btw? [:I]
heard a rumour bad review about fireblood (size 4000??) from somewhere…
some one caught a GT (fish nv landed, so???), and the drag was overheated (quite a normal case lah), so decided to pour water on the spool, then “crack!”… the spool cracked!
i think all reel would have the same problem under that particular same situation, but then they gave a bad review to it.
i’ve personally tested a size 1000 fireblood, and found it super smooth on both drag and cranking.
so as i said, this is only a rumour from an identified source. as for myself, i will not believe it until i saw the actual reel or was in that scene.
shimano is always my no. 1 choice when come to spinning reel (some time no budget, so have to go for Abu and Okuma [:p]), but now the price is like a balloon that comes up n nv comes down, no thanks to the currency exchange rate!

Hi all,
just to share, I got 1 FB 4000. Last time use it to popping in P9 for baby GT ( average 3-4kg). so far it is good, smooth drag etc. however, that reel had been stolen when my house got broken into…[V]
Then, buy a new one and never use it to go sea fishing (actually no time).. but use it / test it for fishing the patin mekong in bukit tambun.. play with with quite rough and still ok.. until my brother use it to cast sebarau and guest what.. the drag lock broken/ malfuntion so no drag… hahah he had to use hand brake on that fish.. but the sebarau manage to play trick and that is the end… luckily the reel still under waranty, so send it back to the shop ( can’t remember the shop name). the reel had to be send back to singapore for repair and it take 1 month ++.
Now got it back, last few week test it again in Bukit Tambun with the patin mekong, since it just been repaired. Test it at max drag or 90% drag ( I don’t want to do it again, my hand sore and very painful after that)and the reel seems to be OK.[:D]
only bad thing I notice is very difficult for casting with small lure ( the drag to smooth, can’t really do the trick /can’t feel it). But if big lure should be fine.
Eer…FB is a spinning reel, right?
I don’t quite understand about the difficulty in casting small lure. I thought that for any spinning reel, once you open the bail-arm, you can cast just about any size lure.
ya it is a spinning reel..
i guest i’m just used to the reel that is not that smooth (i mean the bearing - mostly cheap one) so when i’m using something a bit better it just become too smooth… just my opinion anyway.. but some other guys might find it easier.. also maybe because of my lack of skills hehehhe[:D]
just wait for stradic la bro… look similar and nice too
duno bout price comparison la but both look cool
Novice angler here, any constructive advices greatly appreciated. Thank you
