Shimano QuickFire System

I’m quite keen with the Shimano IX or Spirex RG. Want to try out the Quickfire2 system which enables single-hand casting for spinning reel.

Does anyone in the forum owns one or used one before? Does the QuickFire system works?

old stuff.. rarely seen these days

was keen on buying one those days… but i got myself baitcaster instead lol, never looked back

anyway bout the system, it’s really nice, u just need to extend the finger get the line n the quick fire tab at the same time, the bail arms will open with just a slight pull. Really fantastic, wonder why they don’t implement anymore. possibly due to the back play

as the quick fire tab will not always appear at the position closest to your finger for comfort bail opening, the back play enable it to turn right towards just below your finger, so it’s really quick, no gimmick here. Tat’s all i know from my short experience playing wit it in an old shop almost 10 years ago

I only have 13 years of fishing experience, so must beri tunjuk ajar!

I think it was an innovative design as an intermediate solution for those who enjoys single hand casting couple with the simplicity of spinning reels. An improvement over an existing design. Where else, Baitcasters were a completely different design. Both aim to serve the same function.

I’m thinking of getting one for my Ultra-light setup. 6’ IM7 rod with 1000 size reel spooled with 15lb braid on 20lb Flurocarbon leader for small jigs, Texas SP & small jerk baits.

Anyway, enough with my ramblings. ANYONE owns a QuickFire enabled-reel they want to sell off? Any tackles shops holding ex-stocks?

how much are you selling?

Hi Knht,

I’m buying not selling. Prefer small 1000 size models with rear-drag. I know most or even none of the tackle shops are carrying such models.

Call me old-fashion but, I like rear-drag spinning reels. Easy to remove spool, easy to reach drag lever, feels more balance compared to front-drag reels.

Ngek ngek ngek…first thing when it arrives got to clean it nicely, examine & fix any weak spots, re-spool with fresh line & take a nice photo of it.
