Dan bagaimana cara-cara nak buat gewang ni.. dari kayu jadi gewang.. kalo Dato / Encik sekalian bule bagi idea pun best gak…

err… what i heard from Lapala is … start with Jelutong. u can get this kind of wood eaisly, very easy to carve (i’ve tried [:D]), easy to handle…

Also to point out to you at the bottom of some of the forumers, you would have noticed their signature like eg, U3 - Team Balum or mine with U1 to U4. The forumers who have “U” in their signatures are actually lure casters in Malaysia.
U - is short for our Ultraman/Ultrafriendly TEAM lure fishing competition we have every year. One team makes up of 4 anglers. We have more than hundreds of U anglers around and you can be sure they are your lurecasters who are eager to learn from all of you.
There are also lurecasters who could not make it to some of the U-event, like TJS above. So some already have forecasted their team names for next year and you may see some with U5 on it.
Hope this helps you to understand some of MFN’s uniqueness here.

u can get Jelutong wood quite easily, some shops selling art equipment, book stores, stationary shops… this
wood is mainly for carving purpose.

i mainly use Jelutong wood
hv try ramin n meranti but these are v hard to carve n sand
cant really diffenciate if there is any effect in bouyancy n action of the lure, still v new in lure making

what kind of paint that are mostly been used to paint wood customlure? (cheap, easy to get, various of colour available, etc). is the painted lure must be finished with thin layer of clear epoxy? and one more, are fishes sensitive with the smell of paint/epoxy? sorry if my question is too basic… he he…

was supposed to put up several articles but gotta postpone them to next week. so Lapala, DATELINE is 1 week from now…can ka? hahahaha…got many stuffs to do(like fishing..heheheh).
Lapala’s tutorial was one of the earlier tutorials i used while making my 1st few lures. the 1st one i followed actually was written by Hiro. very good stuffs.
i am taking some time collecting pics of some steps in the process of making lures as i am using my sis’ PC to surf the net. now that i have shifted back to Penang, my PC is not conected to the net as i have only a modem, without a router. hahhaha…wait ya?

To get started simple spray paint cans will work fine. To preserve your work and prevent damage your lure needs to be coated with epoxy. otherwise the water and fish teeth will ruin your bait right away.
After your lure has cured there will be no smells coming from it that will prevent the fish from biting. otherwise custom made lures would not be so popular.

As he mentioned tutorial will be coming, I agreed today to do a Soft PLastic and Lead tutorial, however maybe i shuold pawn the lead one on Cheeseman

fir3T, i have seen one of your handcraft, the one that must be combined with SP grub, very nice. what kind of fish have you caught with that lure?
cheesehead@kepalakeju, if using the ordinary spray, i think it is hard to control the amount of paint to be sprayed if multiple colour is to be used for a design unless only one colour to be used. i’m thinking of tamiya spray but its expensive. any other suggestion? i’m really interested to make a lure myself. syok oo bila ikan makan lure yang dibuat sendiri…
