Of course it is possible to surfcast from OFB lighthouse similarly from the kelongs as well.
The long beach rods would be an advantage actually, especially when fighting the fish and landing it.
The long rods help avoid line tangles and line snaps as the flexibility of the rods help cushion any sudden runs of the fish.
As for power casting for distance, this would be subjective…there usually wouldn’t be a need to cast very far as the water is already deep around the area.

I’ll be at Junanza Resort, Pulau Sibu, Johor for some Pendulum-ing laa, how to join you but if you got time, why not join us to OFB(24/8 - 2 days/1 nite) or Junansa(15/8-3days/2nite), you’ll get so excited when you see tengirri about 120m away from the Jetty, only we surfcaster can cast so far, the rest tengok jeer…hehehe…[:D]

If you are free on Wed nite(15/8), just go to Tg Harapan, near the Esplanade Boat, you’ll see a fella using Surfcasting Rod with arms bigger that yr leg, he’s Aji Leadhunter(Eddy), Malaysia No 1 Surfcaster but if he wanna borrow yr surfcast rod, just say no, he’ll break it for you…hehehe…[:D]

i am not NO.1, im the only(for now) 200m+ caster in Malaysia and just lucky to hold the longest record …WLW warghhh…laugh…weeerk…
