Hi guys,
Juz came back from Rompin this evening. Aznaff, twelve footer, faris and myself went fishing since saturday 17th. Faris caught a pari lalat in pantai pasir lanun. later continue..Aznaff called got tani with budak2
the popular quotes of the weekend…
it started with…
“…pangkah ajeee tempaty nieeee…”
“…like this must go pantai lanun lah…”
“…serious ahh…don’t bluff la he got pari…”
“…here must use sotonggggggg..”
“…why la no eat”
“…pakcik2…dia dapat lagi lah”
“…udang kuningggggggg”
“…row row row your boat”..eh how ahh to do that"
finally…
“..dude…next time must find udang kuning…but what is udang kuning?”
cheers..

continue…
We had the longest rod, casted further than the (PK)pakcik “kuning” (pakcik if you’re reading this please don’t curse me coz I don’t know what to call you)
As the story unfolds, the PK is a Johorian. He came coolly to the beach that Saturday evening rubbing shoulders with me. I was going and he was coming with a short fiberglass rod, his wife was behind him carrying another rod and a plastic container of bait. To make the story short, aznaff called me much later and said that a pakcik caught a 2kg pari on our beach. Knowing Aznaff(loosing a game fish in the morning can be devastating) I had to double check his story with twelve footer.
Anyway the truth of the matter is PK out-fished us. That night fishing along side us he caught 2 more pari(approx 2kg each) and 2 sembilang.
Upon researching we found out that he used udang “kuning” hence the name PK. PK was “godsend” actually because I was already disappointed when faris(the first to arrive) called and said that the beach is as flat as an airport. No wonder Aznaff said that we should have a distance casting practice there when the tide is out.
Pakcik “kuning” you are awesome man…
So from now onwards when fishing in Rompin/Endau area we must bring “udang”(I’ll paint it yellow if I have to) Bro Onn says that in Pantai Pasir Lanun “udang hidup” is useless. In that case we must bring both “udang” and “sotong”.
I’m raving like a lunatic am I not? Not catching game fish does that to me sometimes.
Hope my friend’s can add more to this…
p/s.
before I forget, I also managed to learn the “wheelbarrow” technique from twelvefooter and “sampan” technique from Aznaff. They are really seasoned technicians I tell you, thanks dudes…(wonder what they’ll teach me next)
till later…
Dear All,
I did miss to beach the big ray at Pantai Lanun…but I guess, even if I’m able to bring it nearer I will stil not be able to land it due to the sharp rocks…a good reason for us to come back right?
Anyway, the Pak Cik story is more important and enlightening for me. I would have “pangkah” the place if not for the Pak Cik who had knocked some sense in our head.
As for the “sampan” style…there are many more to come, till we meet again on the beach then…

Very pity for you guys accept FarIsZZ, congrat for hooking that Pari Lalat, do you weight it whether it is a licene class?
Also congrat to the Pakcik for showing what beach fising all about hehehehe…it not about the tackle’s alone but experience and knowledge are also important.
As for me, just reach from Kuala Terengganu and last night did my final fishing session at Teluk Ketapang before the trip back to KL.
The result are as per the photo’s below. The bait I used was Selar Kuning with Zziplex GB3 Heavy with Shimano Trinidad TN14 and Avet SX 6/4.

The first catch from the first cast, Barracuda approx.2kg

Was talking to En.Rahim telling him it 2kg not 16kg.

2nd catch a Cobia approx.1.9kg

Overall catch are 1 Gelama, 2 Ketuka, 1 Bolos, Cobia and Barracuda.
Cheers.[8D]
PS: Got my license for 2007, so now I’m a FULL TIME Caster hehehe..

Keep the pictures coming guys …although we can only fish occasionally, it was really fun!
en rahim,
Onn said that your 16kg pari “license” has expired as at 31-12-06…so you must quickly catch another one this year to qualify for a license, me too of course!..bagero that fella!

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Aiseymen…BroOnn…me also in KL loo…(Shah Alam) KT also my kampong (my wife kampong). last CNY i went to Tlk Ketapang…i saw many anglar fishings there… they not using any surfrod or surf equip but still can catch fish using 8’ rod, it’s made me ‘jatuh cinta’ with these ‘Surfcasting’ fishing tecqniue la… at the moment i plan to buy surfrod-spinning (cap ayam dulu) 10’…what do you think??

Stella,
Like that ok la.
As for the rod it best buy a 13’ or 14’, Abu Viper MH is a good start price below RM200, if you got xtra budget go for the New Shimano BX at Sykt.Kepong cost approx. RM400-500.00 only.
As for the reel, it ok to go a Spinning type but it must suit it application la or if you don’t want to waste time then go for a multiplier also can.
My advise prior to start fishing is it best to learn casting technique coz it is the fundamental in surf fishing. Then knowing in parallel about rigging and it accessories.
My experience in surf fishing, we encounter a lot of fishing condition like fish from the rock, casting in the water coz of flat beaches, sometime you have cast far to reach the drop off and etc.
There 3 main reasons, why I go training for dry or field casting during the weekend,
- I’m in late 40’s,body need execise to keep fit, eassssily
can make 5 to 6km walking as well as muscles building. - Improve my casting skill so that can cope with what fishing
condi I come across. - Last and most important I nak menang la if there is a casting
tournament.
Cheers.[8D]
