Do anyone know of fishing spots of the above mentioned species around Sandakan Sabah? It’s strictly for C&R

Based on my experience in Florida - Miami in particular, Tarpon roam along the shore and in mangroove area, and share the habitat with Mangroove Jack and Siakap. It also can be found in brakish and freshwater upstream to a certain extend. They migrate, so there is no fixed spot for them like grouper or coral fish. So, i think you need to explore the mangroove area preferably using a small boat and look for the school. At night, they love a lit area aroung bridges and piers looking for shrimps and mullets.

Thanks for your advice. I did quite a fair share of fishing for ox-eye herring, but they were further down south. As you said, they are in the river, close to the river mouth. However, they are found in the sea too, in fact, those in the sea are bigger in size.Those going up stream are small, and very difficult to hook with lures, perhaps fly will do the job.
At this moment I’m in Sandakan area. As such, I will like to find out where can I get them in this part of Sabah.

Went to 2 Sg. in Sandakan last week, caught Ikan Bulan Bulan up to 400gm only.

if i tak silap bayaran adalah RM 30.kolam ini tidak ada masa kamu boleh pancing dari pagi sampai petang pun boleh tetapi hanya buka pada hari jumaat,sabtu,ahad dan public holiday.
