Guys,
I have started another thread to specifically cater to the Potluck/fishing on Sept 25. Please go there if you wish to comment or talk Ayam Jantan about the event.
Lets leave this thread for information on fishing at Tow Foo Sports Fishing Center.
quote:Originally posted by Mr.D I should be around on September 25, but I will not be participating in the fishing competition, because I know most of the 'secret baits' and top spots hahaha.
But, what about the pot luck food? Who’s bringing what?
I am thinking of providing Lamb Shank Briyani for about 10 pax. Any objections?

manaraaaa… Lamb Shank Briyani for 10pax mana cukup!!! wakakakaka
Great news, Akira…If the biggies are favouring the good old ’ makan begitu saja’ gardenia and pandan flavour , hope they are on the way back to ‘normal’ selves instead of going for just the specialised ‘expired’ buns/breads. Then the The competition on 25th will be a ‘syiok’ one with bait choice is more generalised…Congrats on that 10.5kg. It can strikes twice , who knows, if you are there on 25th…eh?.
I wonder what happens to the predators in TF.Tons of Lampams..Baby Jojo, good to see you last sunday..hmmm..still havin the unfish bussiness there…

With effect from November 01, 2011, anglers are required to register prior to fishing.
Mr. Wong has introduced a Jackpot and anglers are requested to add RM 2.00 in addition to the normal RM 18.00. In brief, you pay RM 20.00 for a fishing session of 12 hours.
The RM 2.00 collected will be contributed to a pool and distributed to 4 winners at the end of the month.

Fishing at Tow Foo has always been challenging. There are times when the fish won’t bite at all and sometimes the get into a mad frenzy.
Welcome to the crazy world of Tow Foo. Since you are new, it would be advisable to meet up with our Resident Pro, Mr. Albert Gan. He is the best person to give you practical advice on how to catch a fish. He is there most weekends and he will gladly give you a lecture from A-Z about the Tow Foo monsters and more.
Of course he charges a small fee for that. Just buy him lunch.
Thanks alot for the heads up you given, buying lunch for sifoo, shud not be a problem at all, [:p], hoping to get tips from Mr.Albert, providing he’ll be there this weekend, you’ll be there as well right?, wanna feel the krayzieness @ TF pond [8D]
There goes any hopes for my son in this contest…ha ha [:D]

not particularly interested in the jackpot
being at TF itself and let lines into water + atmosphere and friends is all i look forward to
may one opt NOT to participate in the jackpot and therefore continue to pay RM18 instead?
it’s not the $ but honestly not keen on the jackpot - buy you and unc wong drinks easily exceed rm2 [:p]
appreciate your thoughts on this
IMHO I feel its better release the fish as soon as possible to enhance their survival rate. Imagine lugging a hefty fish from the beyond the mango tree in a knotted net all the way to the canteen to weigh…I’m not for that. It’s not about the RM2 or the jackpot. It’s the practice.
This jackpot thing is not so much of a big deal but it serves quite a few useful purposes.
All anglers are now required to register prior to commencement of fishing and this is one way of weeding out the meat hunters. The registration process has turned away many unwanted anglers and free loaders which is a plus point for sporting anglers.
Secondly, this is one method to see how big the Tow Foo fish can really be.
Thirdly, anglers need to call or shout and Wong’s machai will rush over with a net and digital weighing instrument to record the catch and take a picture prior to releasing it back.
Fourthly, instead of increasing fishing fees, this paltry RM 2.00 gets back to some lucky anglers.
And finally, it keeps Mr. Wong’s staff working instead of sleeping.
I fish in a number of payponds which offer jackpot. Some of these ponds are bigger than towfoo. I rarely see fish die because of the weighing process. Fish like patin, plabuk, bighead carp, pacu, keli, rohu are very tough.
I notice that the anglers in these jackpot paypond try to land the fish as quickly as possible (so the jackpot fish wouldn’t get away). Maybe that’s why the fish survive as they are not tired out.

i’m not particularly keen to see/know my $ is given to other anglers, read, strangers - no offence, mates
raise it for maintenance and better facilities and/or fish stock by all means
p’raps i need to look at it similarly where we buy stuff from hypermarts and by chance happen to strike a lucky draw? guess i could do that [;)]
like i said, it’s not much (the money) but mebbe i’m taking too narrow a view?
brickbats, bouquets and enlightening tips/views welcome
and thanks, Mr D, keep up the good work!

I think with this alone is enough for me. If tow foo can reduce the number of meat hunters and maximise their income (freeloaders) which in turn will then in a little way find its way back into the ponds facilities/fish stock.
