akum semua..baru balik mengudang di rompin..turun dari kedai majid..main 2 hari..tapi hasil kurang memberangsangkan. kat sane diaorang kate 2 minggu sebelum raya cina dah bergasak sampai berbelas kilo..tapi kitaorang pegi bertiga hampeh…ada la dalam 3kilo utk 3orang…mungkin disebabkan air sejuk kot…dua hari sebelum tu hujan..lebih menyedihkan lagi apabila nak beli udang “cover line” pun tak dapat…kata tokey “satu minggu sudah tak da stok!!!” nak buat camne kan…

mana nak ada udang. dah kena racun sebelum raya cina. memang celaka ramai yang mati tiap hari entah lah dia org yg meracun ni tak mampus lagi. kalau dapat tangkap patut digantung sekeluarga.

best time of the month for prawning, in terms of tide and current would be anytime between 6th to 10th and 25th to 27th of the lunar/islam calendar (not english calender ha). other dates have predominantly higher tide and faster current or no current at all. faster current means prawns can’t be stationary to feed. its not that u can’t try at all, but the overall outing will be not so productive than it can be. when water is fast, u can still try by the bank where the water is much slower. Higher tides also pushes the fishing zone more up river due to the entry of saltier waters from the sea.
if that criteria is satisfied, then check if there had been rain before the date u chose to go, if got rain then water is probably murky and cold. Murky water makes the prawn less sensitive to bait/food around it. Cold temperature will make prawns inactive. Normally just before and after major festivities, the demand for prawns go sky high, so its lucrative for poachers to do illegal harvesting by poisoning or bombing. So u might wanna hear what’s the gossips as well before u go.
these are some major critierias serious prawning anglers will be concerned before they plan to go. But if you don’t give a damn about productivity and that u just want to have fun and get some experience going prawning, atleast try on the days mentioned above.
Personally, i think the prawns are being devastated due to major pollutant of palm oil estate weeding, pesticides that seep through the ground water and to the river. many riverbanks are polluted over the years thanks to oil palm industry!
