UFO - EAK Flycasting Fair ( Up date with Pictures

UFO (United Flyfishers Organization) will organize a Casting Fair and Mini Competitions at EAK on Saturday 9 July 2011.</font id=“red”> Come experience and learn the finer points of the various flycasting techniques. Beginner and Intermediate Fly Anglers are encouraged to attend.

Time : 7.30 am – 3.00 pm</font id=“red”>
Registration : RM 50.00 p/p inclusive of braekfast, lunch, flycasting instructions and fishing!!

Itinerary</font id=“size3”></font id=“red”>

7.30 am – 8.30 am</font id=“red”> : Registration of participants and breakfast

8.30 am – 9.30 am </font id=“red”>: Introduction to the 5 Essentials of Flycasting

9.30 am – 12.30 pm</font id=“red”> : Paricipants broken into groups and assigned to respective stations for 20 minutes before moving to the next and so forth.

Station 1</font id=“green”> – Accuracy Casting. Participants will be taught the key points on how to be an accurate caster. Learn how to place your fly close to your targets and increase your catch rate.

Station 2</font id=“purple”> – Roll cast. One of the most important casts in flyfishing. If you already know it, it’s time to sharpen up your rollcast skills. You will learn the various uses of the cast and when to apply.

Station 3</font id=“navy”></font id=“maroon”> – Reach mend and pile cast. These are casts that you will make time and time again fishing in moving streams or freestone rivers. Learn how to avoid ‘drag’ of your fly, how to apply the cast and how to execute.

Station 4</font id=“teal”> – Forming narrow and wide loops. Learn the simple techniques of rod tip control for effective loops. Learn the key points for more consistent loop shapes to fit your fishing situation. Bad tailing loops or wind knots? We’ll show the many simple ways to fix this.

Station 5</font id=“orange”> – Casting in windy conditions. Participants will be taught how to cast into a head wind and with wind blowing onto the casting arm. Put an end to free body piercing and broken rods. Learn many simple ways to handle fishing in the wind.

12.30 pm – 1.30 pm</font id=“red”> Lunch Break and Chit Chat

1.30 pm – 3.00pm</font id=“red”> All participants are invited to show your newly learnt skills in the UFO Mini Competition – Accuracy/Roll cast accuracy/3 pick-up and shoot Distance. Prizes for winner of each individual category and overall Grand Prize for Participant with the most points and “Caster of the Day Award”

(All prizes sponsored by Psage Merdana, Tacklebox and UFO)

3.00 pm</font id=“red”> onwards – Free time/Fishing

Equipment : All participants are requested to bring their own flyrod (5-7wt), Bright Floating Line and Leader.

Would like to join in for the learning session but would not be able to make it for lunch or anything thereafter. Such a case, would there be any discount given?

Or else, would Raazor willing to sponsor? Me new to flycasting. Using jig jahat can lar…Razor would know…

Due to BERSIH Rally on the same date as the casting fair in EAK, on 9th of July… we would like to inform everyone that the casting fair will be postpone to a later date..

Will keep everyone posted with the new date soon…

I think its only fair that we ask those who will be taking part whether the Bersih Rally is going to effect them or not. If everyone is ok on that day, I think we should proceed as planned. This is because of the Fasting month and after that the Raya celebration just around the corner, so postphoning the event might not be a good idea. Unless we want to do it after Raya…

So guys n girls, what say you? Should we proceed as planned or change it to other day, most probably after raya???

Nik, donno what others think, but I suggest we postpone it till after hari Raya. As it is, indications are that the polis blocks are going to make it difficult for us to get to EAK in the morning.

For me, its a frustrating time trying to get to PJ/KL along the KESAS highway everytime there is a rally in KL … all lanes along the highway are closed near the Kemuning toll, except one lane to facilitate “checking” by the polis. You can imagine the crawl. When asked, the polis fellows will always say its “arahan” from Bkt. Aman … apa nak buat?

So I think its better all round if we do it after Hari Raya…rgds.

I think thats a good reason to postphone it to a later date. I think any gathering whether it be Bersih or our fair, the police will definitely try to put a stop to it. No big gathering without permit #######. I am ok. If we can do it before fasting month will be better. There will be another event organized by Burn the Reel competition right after Raya. So, it might split the participants.

Aiya! postponed kaa… I’m afraid if postponed it to different date i would not be able to participate laa due to working outstation.. So sorry guys.. If not i sure be champion.. hahahahaha…

I just received a call from Taman Pertanian officer informing me that Y. Bhg Dato’ Ketua Setiausaha will be coming to our event on this
9 July 2011. He doesn’t know yet that we are going to postphone this event due to the Bersih thing. This is going to be the first time that a very senior officer in the Kementerian coming for this kind of event. It will be a good exposure for our future organization which we are going to register.

Well its not too late to proceed if we have the support from the p-articipants…
