It has been challenging trying to figure out a format of competition that will be fun and rewarding, yet competitive, fair and
equitable. In the end, the organizers decided to stick to the original theme of the event, “community, charity, cheer” and
resulted in the following regulations. Please bear in mind that these rules & regulations may be amended along the way and we do
appreciate and encourage participants to offer their opinions.

UFO Giant Snakehead on Fly
RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Fish qualification and species qualification

a. Though the competition is named after the Giant Snakehead, which we believe will be the main competitive catches,
the Challenge Trophy will be awarded for the highest total accumulated weight for all species of Snakeheads, and will be
calculated based on weight measurement using the official scale provided by the organizers. Only fishes exceeding
1.0 kilogram will qualify.

b. This is a strictly “Catch and Release” event. All fishes of any species caught during this event must be released.
Any contravention of this rule will warrant automatic disqualification of the offending participant.

2. Fishing & Tackle Regulations

a. Fly Rods

i. Maximum two fly rods on boat per participant at any time; rods may be changed or replaced at anytime.

ii. Fly rods must be of a minimum length of 7 feet and may be of any weight classification. To reduce occurrences
of rod breakages as well as over-exhausted Snakeheads, participants are highly recommended to fish with fly rods
weight 7-9. Only flyfishing rods are allowed on board.

b. Fly Line

i. Fishing line can be composed of flyfishing line of any weight, floating or sinking.

ii. Recommended minimum leader length is 7 feet.

iii. It is absolutely mandatory that a leader of monofilament or fluorocarbon line of any weight rating, of at least
15 inches in length is used to attached directly to the fly or bite tippet. Bite tippet made of wire is highly
recommended. The fly or bite tippet may not be directly tied to the flyline.

c. Flies

i. Maximum one fly on the tippet or bite tippet at any time during each fishing session.

ii. The fly must be a recognized type of artificial fly, which includes streamer, tube fly, wet fly, dry fly, nymph,
popper and bug. The use of any other type of lure or natural or preserved bait, either singularly or attached to the fly, is
expressly prohibited.

iii. No scent, either natural or artificial is allowed on flies. The use of scented material in a fly is prohibited.

iv. All flies must be tied with barbless single hooks only.

d. Netting and fish landing

i. Nets used to boat or land a fish must not exceed 8 feet (2.44 meters) in overall length. Gaffs are strictly not
allowed.

ii. Each participating team must provide their own landing net. All fishes must be landed using a landing net (lip
grips, gaffs or grips of any kind are strictly not allowed during the landing of the fish).

iii. Lip grips may only be used to assist during measurement and photography of the fish and subsequent release
(the fish’s body must be supported by hand/net at all times during usage of a lip grip under these circumstances).

iv. Boatman or boat-mate may assist with handling of net, measurement and photography.

v. No one (including boatman) is allowed going into the water to assist landing a fish. For the avoidance of doubt,
participants are not allowed to leave the boat (including going onto land) or submerge any part of their body in the
water except their hands and upper arms to assist in landing a fish.

e. No chumming, either natural or artificial.

f. Flyfishing Regulations

i. Trolling a fly behind a moving water craft is not permitted, whether powered by petrol outboards or electric
trolling motors.

ii. Flies must be casted and retrieved in accordance with normal customs and generally accepted fly fishing
practices. The major criterion in casting is that the weight of the line must carry the fly rather than the weight
of the fly carrying the line.

iii. The angler must cast, hook, fight, and bring the fish to net unaided by any other person. No other person may
touch any part of the tackle during the playing of the fish or give aid other than taking the leader for netting
purposes.

iv. The angler may only be assisted when the leader touches the tip ring of the fly rod. One or more people may
assist in netting the fish.

v. Fish must be hooked on the fly in use. If a small fish takes the fly and a larger fish swallows the smaller fish,
the catch will be disallowed.

vi. The angling and equipment regulations shall apply until the fish is weighed.

3. Score Card, Fish Weighing and Digital Photography

a. All participating teams must have a digital camera with a minimum resolution of 4 Megapixel and capable of taking
photos with flash.

b. All qualified fishes must be weight measured while inside the landing net and digitally photographed with the
weighing scale provided by the organizer. All qualified fish must have at least 2 photographs depicting the following:

i. Whole fish inside landing net hung by the hook of the weighing scale and clearly showing the weight
measurement. Additional shot of weighing scale may be needed to show weight reading clearly.

ii. Close up shot of the whole fish, sufficiently displaying the identifying markings of the fish.

iii. Any fish without the two required photographs in Rule 3a (i) and (ii) will be disqualified.

c. All recording of qualified fishes must be signed by the boatman, on the “Score Card” (to be supplied by organizer).
It is the participants’ responsibility to countercheck weight scores and signatures of participants as well as the
boatman’s before personally submitting each score card at the end of each fishing session.

d. Competitors are solely responsible for clear photographs showing the whole fish for each of the photography
requirements in Rule 3a.

e. Please check with organizers on photographic equipment brand & software for downloading of your digital
photographs, one week before the competition date.

f. Organizers may change or include additional regulations to enhance the fun of competition.
