Part two:
this morning latok sms-ed me at 5am, “on boh?”…i promptly replied “on laa..” and so that was the beginning of our mini side-quest entitled“Perfect Being in an Imperfect World”</font id=“blue”> while other side-quests like “How to Catch A Saiseng-Kuala Trong” by Lannun/Defisho</font id=“blue”>, and “How to catch a Ladyfish-Bedong” by Doraemon</font id=“blue”> were ongoing simultaneously today. by 545am we were already at air itam market having our breakfast. after a bowl of koay teow th’ng and a plate of economy rice we headed to our designated site with much enthusiasm. i only brought my 4wt fly rod with limited flies, as a result of being ‘sailang-ed’ yesterday by a certain ‘old’ fly-fisherman.
welcoming us at 630am were a pack of dogs that were barking mad. should be latok’s b*tchy stench from Bedong that had triggered their pheromone glands kua. parked my car short of entering the pond and immediately we tied on our flies in the pitch-dark, cool morning.
nothing significant happened for the past hour, except that latok hooked up a kilo-sized senangin on fly! as he was trying to handle his camera at the same time, his lunch jumped right off his plate, literally, while i was hurrying back to his spot with my camera; and, a huge biawak ran right in front of me and jumped into a fish-infested pond! imagine the commotion of splashes!(biawak jumped into the pool, kena attack by ?groupers/siakaps)
ok, long story short, while latok was busy decorating the electricity cables with my precious flies, i decided to swith to casting to save my leftover flies from becoming wind-chimes & dreamcatchers. latok brought his tiny Daiwa Laguna 500 reel spooled with 8lb mono, paired with a flimsy rod of unknown rating, but he didn’t bring his lure box.
yes, he didn’t bring his lure box. KNN…</font id=“size6”> tauke of lucky craft goes fishing with a spinning setup without lures(no, there weren’t split shots to even spin-fly with my flies!) ahem…anyway, back to main story:
wah, already hang 3 flies up there in half an hour! luckily not i tie one…

“Perfect Being” in an imperfect world…

but all’s not lost! lo and behold! with me i have an LC wander 95 which was sacrificed to me as part of our unethical underhand dealings! intended as a car ornament, well, i had no choice but to tie it on lah…
1st touch on the water and…wham! sound like an accident involving a Volvo S40 vs Merc C200K! Not so KNN after all!~!~!</font id=“size1”>
i was using one hand fighting, the other taking pics!

latok lansi aka bangla of the day, jumped in to grab the bull

latok, pls retrieve my LC wander! my one and only LC!(too expensive to buy, never bought one from him before)

latok finally putting his Bachelor of Dentistry degree to use!

i seriously was unable to lift the 8kg of pure muscle up. just lay next to it niaaa…walau

beauty and the beast! latok flexing his butterfly muscles with MY FISH! if he entered this pic his own ‘LC Monthly fishing contest’ i would’ve won, theoretically!

“faster lah, my sh*t coming out liau! STOP WIGGLING!”

the release(would’ve fed the whole LKG with it though, but i’m sure the meat is ‘lokoh’) well, wish it could spawn more offsprings for a fight another day.

the setup i was using, Khoo’s sangkar gelama setup.

my new wander…haih…kena scratched oredi…hooks pry opened. this one going to get framed up soon in the hall of fame

with the sun scorching our sensitive skin as it approached 9am, we scuffled to have hokkien mee at Balik Pulau town before Jackpot went crabbing.
been a while now since i hooked up a bull, last one was almost a year ago in Bedong…brrrr…scary.
