Warning of interactive Yahoo Msg chat virus

I suspect there is a very sophisticated system that scammers are using via Yahoo Chat to put malware into your system.

This morning I received a YM Chat from an MFN brother. It started with “Hi there” then followed by him telling me how well he did in an IQ test. I ignored then went back to work.

This evening the same modus operandi started with the “Hi There” and then followed by him telling me how well he did in this IQ test. He then encouraged me to beat it with a “20 dollar” bet with the link.

Then I asked him “BTW what’s your MFN nick?” and he decided to go to a shower.

The whole thing raised a lot of suspicion to me because of the following:

  1. He sometimes write to me in some Malay or “Hi bro”; typically we greet each other as brothers in MFN.
  2. The same sentence appeared to click on the same IQ test link.
  3. To confirm who he is, I decided to use a basic challenge-response method of asking what is his MFN nick which this scammer can’t reply.

I suspect this person has his Yahoo ID hijacked. In fact, I have received spam mails from two separate MFN members selling stuff to make me stronggggggg.

So everyone, be aware of this.

Regards,
Vincent
