FireTiger, nice report u got there. I’m heading to Langkawi too next weekend. Will be staying at Awana Porto Malai. Are we allowed to fish at the resort area? I also heard tat there’s baby grouper all around the island. so how did u find ur beautiful lightning grouper spot?

thanx bro. i don think fishing is allowed at the resort area. we were fishing around the jetty because we were waiting for our boat to dock and unload. i did get nudge from the security guard/bangla with regards to no-fishing! hahaah…
what u can do is, get in touch with the fishing village just to the left of Awana…they do offer some fishing services but do enquire more, to ensure that it is up to your expectations..
there are many ilands to fish on…the question is which. can’t answer u on this but we’re still trying. have not caught enough fish to let u know which are good spots.
the blue grouper was caught in crystal island. there are so many types of groupers there that i’ve lost count. panau, sammyvelloo, blue-spotted…just to name a few.

oh … too bad then. At first I tot I can fish at the resort area. Reason being is becoz it’s only myself going for fishing therefore renting a boat might be too expensive for one person. The hotel did give me contact of fishing boat for rm350 for 4 hours which can fit 4 person. But again since it’s only myself therefore it’s not applicable. Anyway, thanks for the info.
