To be honest Uncle Thomas, I didn’t really want to mention it. But on my dad’s trip to Pulau Tujuh in Indonesia, the rod actually snapped about 16 inches from the tip. I’ve no idea how it happened, as I’ve yet to see it for myself. But knowing how my dad uses his equipment, I’m sure he wasn’t high sticking while fighting a fish. More likely he used lines that were too heavy or too much drag was applied.From what I’ve been told over the phone, the rod was bending at unsafe angles when the fish made a dive under the boat. I’m not sure and I can only ascertain what happened when I do get back.
Edit: Don’t get me wrong Uncle Thomas. I have all the faith in the world in your hand made rod, but sometimes, when things are bound to break, they break. I’m sure any other rod that day would have suffered the same fate. And my dad’s excitement while playing the fish might have in more ways than one, put extensive pressure on the rod.

How unfortunate to hear that, but never mind send it back to me when you come back, I’ll examine it if it is due to material defect. If it is, I will give you a replacement.
