Thomas stroker rod making light work of a 20kg mulloway

Carry a rod and speak softly.

Third picture, that is the red coral trout, good eating, but I like the last picture best, great action, well done Ben!![^][^][^]

Thomas,
I still haven’t used the heavier rod yet. Have yet to come across a fish that the lighter one can’t handle. Hope to open ceremony on the heavier rod soon. Unfortunately the samson season is over and I don’t want to travel 6 hours by boat to look for the SBT (up to 100kg off Portland - Vic).

The lighter rod is good enough for 100kg monster, no sweat. The stiffer one is for heavier jig up to 6oogm, again you have to hook one of 100kg+ to appreciate the power
of the rod.

Nice one ben !..i like the mullos !,

once an angler, always an angler

Flicker, at least your catch rate is better than my trip to Perth. Is this the Kalbarri place that you mentioned…?
The mulloway look like our Ibu gelama… or is it the same?
Curious, what did you do with all those fishes?

F2R2,
the catch rate was good for a day’s fishing. Sand snapper, mulloway, sharks, coral trout, pinkies, Bream, Tarwhine, Mulloway, chinaman fish, fingermark and lobsters!

The mulloway looks similar to the Ibu Gelama but are not the same. The ibu gelama is same as the black jewfish found in the north - exmouth to darwin to cape york.

We ate some of the fish (pinkies, coral trout and chinaman fish) in Kalbarri. did cook some curry fish with some mulloway fillets. The Singaporean friends kept the bulk of the mulloway fillets and took them back to perth. Probably will be having fish for weeks.
