We used to land sailfish around 10 to 15 minutes of thrill using 20 to 30lb braided lines of 300m. The sail will submit to bill grab at boat side without much difficulty. Recently we had a double hook up and we had to land one as fast as possible. See what happened when Hakim brought his sail in within 5 minutes. When the bill was grabbed by the skipper, the sail went balastic, there were expolsive thrashing before it was boated for some pictures. It was a big sail of about 40kg. Now see the video:

Sometime the bill may break due to excessive thrashing and the fish
may die, so the safest is to tire the fish out before bringing along side for easy bill grabbing, eliminating injury to fish and skipper.
