I have seen a lot of anglers panic when the fish goes under the boat, most probably he will try to lift the fish resulting in breaking the rod or bursting the line when it is cut by the hull of the boat [remember most hulls have barnacles if it is not well maintained, the barnacles are very sharp and can cut your mainline easily]. You have to keep your cool and dip your rod tip well under the boat so that the fish can swim round the boat without getting your line cut by the hull. This video shows you what to do if you encounter a big fish going round the boat. Good luck on your next trip.

I was using 12lb braid, targeting tengirri, but the sail came along first, what to do ? I only had 80m in the spool, it almost emptied my spool, but managed to palm the spool and regained lined, luckily it was not a big sail, it was estimated between 25 to 30 kg.
Wow Thomas seems like u had a good fight with the fish…luckly the sail did not break the line with it’s ( what do u call the long pointed sharp tip on the sail fish)… snout???
With ur experience the sail dun have a chance Thomas…[:D][:D]…
