Wild Mama Toman !!! Wild Fishing !!! By BKKGUY

My love !!! My toman !!! My Giant snakehead !!!
No angler will get bore of fishing in the wild and no angler will complain of fishing too much in the natural surrounding.

I’ve been venturing all over the regions inThailand, seaching for monster toman to fish. I’ve fished many dams & reserviors in Thailand.
I must say that toman( giant snakehead) in different regions of Thailand take lures differently. Ones must be expereince enough to spot what kind of lures to use during what kind of terrains and situations.

That’s when my expertise come in- Very few anglers would spent so much time and efforts like myself to truly understand this unique fish. The so called strongest freshwater fish and the prized fish of asia.- That’s the Giant Snakehead or in asia we call them “Toman”.

Enjoys my exciting & actions vid clip…

Let begin my catch report for this trip…

Travelling long distant in wee morning is normal when come to wild fishing in Thailand. At time, I need to set off at 2.30AM or 4.00AM depend on the locations of that day. Of course, my location/spot on that day itself , depend on the feedbacks from all my sources of boatmen in the regions.

Since I myself have fished those places before, I know what exactly to expect at different spots. For those newbies and non expereince anglers, they will be wander aimlessly , casting without any target in mind. It will be very tiring and frustrated at time.I know I’ve been to those days before when I first started.

Now I’ve became more venture and experience in wild fishing. Ones must know how to fish smart when come to wild fishing. You will get ‘nothing’ if you cast out your lure just for the sake of casting. Conserve your energy and know ‘when’ to cast and ‘where’ to cast. That the secret of wild fishing.

My first spot is to this monster toman spot. The distant from bkk is about 400KM. No joke if you’re not as crazy like myself.

Landed this 7.50KG monster on rabbit lure.

When everything seems quiet, I drove to another dam further down (180KM away from my first spot)

The best BC for wild toman fishing- My Daiwa Ryoga 1016H & Daiwa Zillion 7.3. Never fail me!!!

Love the nature !!! Love the wild kind of fishing !!!</font id=“size5”>
Enjoys the beautiful surrounding.

Waiting for the right moment to cast my lure…
Must be patience even when targeting the MAMA toman with fry.

Pondering on my next move…

This toman is one smart MAMA… Not interested to take my lure initially. We have been following the the toman fry right from the narrow channel where we spotted them to the open area of the dam.

Hooking up the baby toman fry along the way… haha !!!

Finally after 1hr plus, the MAMA toman took my lure.

The battle begin…

Fighting the monster toman need skills, netting the toman all by yourself need even GREATER skills to do that. Imagine 1 hand holding your rod, trying to fight the toman and the other hand trying to net the toman up. “Phew”.

One wrong move, if ever the treble hooks got hook onto the net, that goes your fish. Gone !!!

Myself with the MAMA toman and self netting..

Remember to practise "Catch & Release "

So the MAMA toman can look after her baby fry. It also make it even harder for the next angler to hook her up again czu she will be more wary about lure..

Rapala lure- BEST…
Notice the deep bite mark left by the MAMA toman..
